Can't believe that Atlanta went for it on 4th down instead of punting.

No matter what happens today I think I like our chances in a playoff rematch if Ben's healthy.

Really?  The Patriots looked today like a team that played it safe because they knew Landry Jones wasn't going to beat them, but I got the sense that if they needed to crank it up, they could've. And a rematch would be in New England, and there is no chance in hell the Patriots are losing at home in the playoff to this Steelers team, with or without Ben.

Thing is, if they go for it, get it and go on to win, everyone is talking about how ballsy and gutsy it was, but since they didn't make it and then lost, I guess many will now say it was a bad decision.  They must have thought their D was gassed and they needed to win the game on that drive.  Either way, brutal loss for them, especially after what happened to them last week.

Barring something crazy, it looks like it.

Arizona has put on a beast of a defensive performance and might not even get a W to show for it.

This game has shown the importance of special teams.  Seattle's is great; Arizona's is terrible.

What an absolutely bizarre result! 4 hours of football and only 12 points to show for it! Thrilling primetime viewing from the NFL!

It also bookends the week after soccer's Liverpool and Manchester United played out a hyped-up game to a dull draw last Monday evening.

And the NFL wonders why their ratings are down.

- Stupid penalties for celebrating
- Not Penalizing wife beaters
- Lack of talent on the field
- Incompetent Refs

Honestly, if it wasn't for Fantasy Football i really wouldn't care about the NFL. Give me college football over the NFL any day.

I think the refs are consistant.  With HD, Slow mo replay we just see the flaws now and how hard it is to ref.  Plus too many damn rule changes that clutter up their calls.

The rule changes are the league. I agree that the refs are pretty much set up to fail. I'd love to see the NFL embrace technology and use chip tracking. Have maybe 3 refs total to manage the players, move the ball, watch for penalties etc.

Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan. Two dudes who have really done well so far this season.

Joe Flacco. One dude who is being exposed for what he is. Strong arm, but not an elevator of talent around him.

RE: the ratings drop, I have a theory. The league seems to be suffering from a lack of young talent. Nowhere is this more clear than when you look at the quarterback position.

The league is just bleeding talent at QB. You've got Brady, Ben, and Rogers, and then who? The rest of the league is so mediocre. We've got young talent, like Luck, Winston, and Mariota being wasted on bad teams. We've got a  bunch journeyman veteran QBs serving as placeholders. We've got exciting younger QBs hurt, injured, or otherwise in rehab. Just seems like we're in a very bad place for what's considered the most important, explosive position in the league.

People always complain about the league's efforts to protect the passer, but it seems to me like the league's defensive players were on a trajectory to start physically outmatching the league's QB crop long ago. Looks to me like the QB pedigree of the league (largely, well-off rich kids from elite families) just can't hang on the same field with the types of players that play the other positions of the sport, no matter what rule the league creates to protect them.

I think Colin Cowherd was mostly on the money when he pin pointed yesterday the three things he thinks are hurting their ratings:

-Trump/Clinton
-The Cubs
-The rapid decline of Fan Duel/Draft Kings (down 70% from last year)

He predicts by the time Thanksgiving rolls around, post-election and post-World Series, their ratings will be back up and just fine.

For me, I can say with certainly that if not for fantasy football, I wouldn't watch nearly as much football as I still do.

Oh, and nice win by the Broncos last night.

Brock Osweiler, thanks for your contributions last year that helped the Broncos win the Super Bowl, and a BIG THANKS for taking the money and running. :tup :tup

I'm not a guy that plays fantasy football but I can see the younger generation being upset, but if that pulls you away from watching football I'm calling you out.

That's a stupid reason you please away from watching football.

When people say that Fantasy is affecting the ratings, I wasn't thinking of this angle.

I just wonder if it's possible that it just peaked. Simple.

Post-Week 7 Power Rankings
1. New England - still haven't peaked, which is kind of scary
2. Minnesota - D is still awesome, but problems on offense are now more obvious
3. Dallas - beat divisional game vs Philly this week
4. Denver - In Elway and Kubiak We Trust
5. Seattle - getting a win and a tie the last two weeks in games they should have lost will pay off come playoff time
6. Atlanta - just when we were all taking them seriously as a threat, they do that...
7. Kansas City - quietly looking like a real threat again
8. Philadelphia - great bounce back win after two tough losses
9. Oakland - their offensive line is legit
10. Arizona - appear back on track the last three games, but that tie could hurt them down the stretch

Trending Up:

Detroit - Matt Stafford is so good now
San Diego - Rivers playing at an elite level as always
Tampa Bay - could they seriously challenge for the NFC South crown?

Trending Down:

Los Angeles - deep down, didn't we all know that their 3-1 start was a mirage?
Baltimore - this team is not what I thought it would be
Pittsburgh - will they survive Roethlisberger's injury?

MVP contenders:

1. Matt Ryan
2. Derek Carr
3. David Johnson
4. Matt Stafford
5. Tom Brady

In this day and age of football I'm shocked to see a 6-6 game with the rules so slanted to the offense.  Is it coaching,  players watered down?  What is it that most offensives are struggling?
