Blaine Gabbert has finally been benched. Thank god. I don't expect Kaepernick to look much better, since the 49ers have the worst receivers in the league, and Chip Kelly's offense is pretty stale, but no one can be as inaccurate as Gabbert was down the field.

On a day where is missing a game due to being in concussion protocol, Cam Newton decides to go riding in downtown Charlotte on a scooter...with no helmet.

He just doesn't get it.

Post-Week 5 Power Rankings
1. Minnesota - scary defense could make them this year's 2000 Ravens or 2015 Broncos
2. New England - welcome back, Brady and Gronk
3. Denver - will miss Kubiak on a short week
4. Atlanta - time will tell if they hold up, but they are very impressive so far
5. Pittsburgh - need to avoid having more let downs to keep pace at the top
6. Dallas - touch schedule coming up will tell the tale on this team
7. Seattle - can they handle the Falcons offense?
8. Philadelphia - coming out that flat after a bye tells me that this team is still a work in progress
9. Oakland - that bad D will come back to haunt them against good teams, but their offense is becoming special
10. Green Bay - Aaron Rodgers just isn't the beast he used to be

Trending Up:

Buffalo - remember when they appeared to be falling completely apart at 0-2?
Washington - nice win big at Baltimore
Tampa Bay - two road division wins already is impressive

Trending Down:

Carolina - hard to believe this team went 17-2 last year
NY Jets - total and complete disaster
Baltimore - that 3-0 start is looking like a mirage

MVP contenders:

1. Matt Ryan
2. Ben Roethlisberger
3. Derek Carr
4. Von Miller
5. Sam Bradford

Classic trap game for Pitt this Sunday, on the road vs an inferior opponent with NE looming around the corner. On top of that I have to worry about how many ankles and knees Suh will be trying to take out.

I would love to see a NE vs. Pitt AFC Title game and either of those offense go up against the Vikings Defense.

Truth.

This is the exact type of game Tomlin teams have historically looked past, taken for granted, and gotten beat.

This is a great article about the murder of Will Smith and how this isn't as black and white as was originally portrayed by the media.

Dan Marino had 87 rushing yards. Over the course of his 17 seasons. To break that down, he averaged less than 1/2 a rushing yard per game, he rushed for less than a first down per season. By comparison, Peyton Manning rushed for 667 yards.

In other news, Favre says Romo should wait until Prescott struggles.  I would tend to agree.  Don't unnecessarily disrupt the chemistry of that offense just to be loyal to Romo.  The guy is injury prone and probably rusty as hell.  On the other hand, they are paying him way too much money to be a backup.  The QB controversy is well on its way in Dallas.

Although the Viking's defense is top notch, to be fair, their schedule has been pretty weak so far.  The only decent team they've played is GB and they barely pulled out that win by 3 points at home.  After the bye, they go to Philly.  The schedule continues to be relatively weak after that.  I think "purple reign" is premature at this point, but whatever floats their boat.

Minnesota's five opponents thus far are a collective 11-8 in games against everyone but the Vikings.  Now, it's true that they haven't beaten a legit playoff team yet (LOL at Houston), but you can only play who's on your schedule, and the dominating nature of most of their wins has been really impressive.

I get why are some are taking the "wait and see" approach with them, given that we have seen plenty of teams get off to great starts and then come crashing back to earth, but they are loaded with talent and look like the real deal.  Blair Walsh has to be their biggest concern; in a close game, which they will inevitably find themselves in, can they trust that guy to make the big kick?

As a fan outside I just love what I see.   I totally get the kicker issue but you have to love how they are trending. For Viking fans it's on to bigger and better.  They are in good hands.

It's been interesting to watch Bradford play on a good team in the NFL for the first time in his career. In the 4 games that he's played so far, the guy has completed over 70% of his passes, thrown 6 touchdown passes and doesn't have a single turnover. He has quietly been one of the best QBs in the NFL so far this season.

Um.... HELLO, Green Bay isn't a legit playoff team? Unfortunately the Viqueens beat us, but we are still a legit playoff contender, even though Rodgers is putting up down to earth numbers.

And we all know how well the Cowboys handle those types of "locker room issues".

Suffice to say, as a Giants fan, I am more than happy with how the Cowboys handle those types of "locker room issues".   I think Jerry Jones will do/say something utterly stupid about this situation in 3... 2... 1...

Why are anybody questioning the Vikings so far?  Seems silly.

Not that silly.  People are crowning them too early in the season.  5-0 isn't all that uncommon.
We'll see how they come off the bye week at Philly.  I'm actually a Viking's fan in week 7.  Not interested in seeing the Beagles win.

Eh, JJ has already said that Romo will start when healthy but it's still too early to tell.  Steven Jones is actually making those decisions now.  As far as locker room issues go, Romo has never been a problem there and I don't think Dak will make waves either.

I don't like what I am seeing out of the Broncos D tonight.  The offense has barely been on the field because the defense is allowing 1st down after 1st down.

Same here Kev, this has been frustrating to watch so far... looks like we may have just gotten a big break though, as the ball definitely touched Benjamin's leg and was recovered by Denver.

Your guys got plenty of big breaks, and failed to capitalize on any of them.

I'm more upset at the fact that the Viqueens are completely bastardizing the amazing prince song. I don't care that they are both purple or from minneapolis. YOU DON'T DO THAT. That's just WRONG.

Not sure which overreaction is greater, the hatred toward the Vikings or the love for a Prince song.

Anyway, let's keep Purple Reign where it belongs, ok? Go UW Huskies!

Surprising to see Denver drop two in row.  Any given.....uh Thursday.  Consistency is such a fleeting thing in this league anymore, except for the Browns.  :lol

I'm looking forward to the Ravens' color rush game. Love how those numbers pop!

Honestly, it's making it hard to watch Thursday nights.  It's like watching bad college football, and they wonder why the ratings are down?

That Broncos helmet last night was awesome. The rest of the uniform, not so much. The entire color rush idea is stupid. Wearing the same color from top to bottom rarely works, period. Forcing teams to do it has predictably led to heinous results.
