I'll try the flat white tomorrow. I don't think there are any Costa shops here in the US.

if you do - ask them for the Origins Espresso.

Just saw this thread. I love coffee, usually have a couple cups in the morning and one or two in the afternoon as well. Favorite is a vanilla latte followed by a flat white.

My favourite "flavoured" coffee at Starbucks was probably the Pumpkin Spice.

When we stopped that after Christmas it was the White Chocolate Mocha.

Probably really fattening since I got them free on my shift :lol

I like the pumpkin spice but I'll usually just get a tall. It gets sweeter to me the more I drink it if that makes any sense.

Yeah they do get more sickly towards the bottom. I guess that's where the syrup settles.

Pumpkin spice sounds so good, I have to see if the starbucks here serves it.  While I won't go looking for a 'good' coffee at starbucks, i think they're good for the sweeter, flavoured stuff.

Better than the latte?  Hmmm...sounds promising.

Maybe it's because you don't heat the milk as much for a flat white . I'm thinking they over steam the milk for the latte.

I think the main difference between the FW and the Latte is really in the way the barista is supposed to pour the milk.  a flat white is supposed to have less foam, a thinner consistency and the crema should be more visible on the top, where the latte is much milkier and foamy on the top.

You know what? I wound up getting the latte macchiato instead today.  :lol  My mind drifted and completely forgot about wanting to get the flat white.

Ohhh. :)

Was it the caramel macchiato ?

Try and ask for Origins Espresso next time so you can taste the diff. You won't notice as much in a flavoured coffee though.

No, it was just the newer latte macchiato. Tomorrow, I'll ask for the flat white with origins espresso.

I had a latte earlier this morning from the cafe at the Staten Island Ferry, so between the two of them, I'm a bit jittery right now.   :lol

Just as you said. I whisked the fuck out of it until it's bubbling up. I pour the coffee in first, then I the hot milk in while holding back the froth, and last I scoop the froth in.

When I go to Starbucks later, I'll ask for it.  Hopefully they'll have it.

When I moved into my new flat - it was unfurnished apart from a hob and an oven.

No fridge or freezer or washing machine etc..

So I keep all my cold products on the tiled windowsill by the window. The tiles keep things pretty cool. Especially since it's winter right now.

An advantage of making lattes is that I use almost half a pint of milk per drink and my milk doesn't have time to go sour :p

No.   :lol  I was in Manhattan, not near a Starbucks if you can imagine that, so I went into this little cafe and got a latte. I have to say it was better than any one I've ever had at Starbucks. :lol  I'll try again later.

My coffeemachine won't start anymore, I can only get coffee by pouring hot water on the filter which results in very thin coffee. Ah wel at least there is some caffeine in it

By the way black coffee is where it's at  :tup

But if it's black you can actually taste the coffee, I think it's a pity to pour milk or sugar in good coffee  :P

(Well unless it's cappuchino or something)

I'm in Manhattan again but no Starbucks here. I walked into a place called Crave Espresso Bar and ordered a dirty chai which is a chai latte with a shot of espresso. There are so many options here. I'm sitting and reading so I think I'll get something else before I leave.

I never liked the Chai anything or indeed the Egg Nog Latte. :p

Yes, it's a tea latte. I enjoy spiced tea or even a spiced coffee. I usually don't use chai and tea together because I was told that chai is the Indian word for tea. So calling it a chai tea latte seems redundant. Unless whoever told me that was wrong which is entirely possible.
