Well, yes, but... Japanese and heavy really only leads to one logical conclusion. One which I happen to know that you are a fanboy of as well.

Which Genowyn already knew, so I had to switch, but that's beside the point.

Alright, maybe not just one logical conclusion.

But Dir en grey is not exactly far-fetched, you have to admit.

Oh god Midori fucking rules so hard.

But no yeah Geno and I have talked about Deg before so that one's obviously off limits. My terror at disappointing him with Japanese music has pretty much killed my drive to send him anything else from the far east. We went to Scandanavia this time.

5 - Zardonic - Antihero - Sacul

Daaaamnn I enjoyed this. Reminded me of Pendulum, which is great, and some of the riffs had a Dream Theater feel to them, which was cool. Unfortunately I'm bad at talking about exactly why I like or dislike music so I don't know what else to say.

4 - Karnivool - Set Fire to the Hive - Train of Naught

Definitely a rockin' tune. Really enjoyed the vocal lines in the chorus. As usual I can't really think of too much to say, besides that I enjoyed it.

4 - Unexpect - Unfed Pendulum - Scorpion

Fun tune. I've heard some Unexpect before but never really got into them much. One thing that stood out to me in this song was the way they were saying Pendulum... I suppose they are Quebecois so I can't fault them.

4 - Jacques Brel - La Ville S'Endormait - Fluffy Lothario

Fluffy was really the only one who took the alternative mmaning of heavy, and went for it hard. This song was incredibly dark, haunting, but a great listen. Interesting to hear some of his pronunciation was different from the French I learned in school.

4 - Periphery - Stranger Things - Sir Walrus Cauliflower

Great tune. This is my kind of heavy riff. Great to headbang to.

3 - Black Sabbath - Psychophobia - Stadler

Man... the vocalist really kills this song for me. I enjoy the instrumentals just fine but I can't stand the vocals. Give me this song with Dio andyou'd have a definite four and maybe a five, but...

3 - The Ocean - The Grand Inquisitor II: Roots & Locusts - Shadow Ninja 2.0

Cool tune. Really heavy. I wasn't that into it initially, but it grew on me with repeated listens.

2 - Intronaut - Digital Gerrymandering - Parama

Unfortunately this song didn't really leave much of an impression on me. Even after a few listens I have trouble recalling this song, but after pulling it up another time for this writing I think the reason for that is that I'm not really into it. In particular, I didn't really enjoy the main riff.

2 - Edge of Sanity - Twilight - Ultimetalhead

Ech. Really didn't dig this. Sorta had an early-era Opeth feel, to me, and that is unfortunately NOT a good thing. Just reaalllly not my style.

1 - Deafheaven - Brought to the Water - Senecadawg2

Oooh every extreme metal trope I don't enjoy together in one song. Did not like the vocal performance at all and the instrumental part I liked maybe even less. Really did not enjoy this song at all.

Standings:
Sacul - 13
Train of Naught - 12
Sir Walrus Cauliflower - 11
Scorpion - 11
Fluffy Lothario - 10
Ultimetalhead - 9
Shadow Ninja 2.0 - 9
Senecadawg2 - 8
Parama - 8
Stadler - 8

The new theme is "Chill". Just a great song to relax to. I don't smoke anymore, but a song you could listen to in the dark while high and go on a journey.

Also for your benefit I now want to give some examples of songs I might give a five to in themed rounds, so for this time some examples would be Devin Townsend's Deep Peace or Skyhill's Run With the Hunted.

Also I'll let you know now, round 5 will be an open round, so you can start thinking about that too.

I went the alternate route of heavy because I feel there's little metal I could show the average DTFer that they hadn't already heard and would actually care for.

Interesting to hear some of his pronunciation was different from the French I learned in school.
I know nothing about French, but could this be because he was Belgian?

Those chill songs are nothing like what I was expecting, but I think I have an idea of something to send.

So do I, but Deep Peace is pretty chill too, I find.

Anyway, sent. You should totes check out that Unexpect album, it's actually their least whacky and most structured, so if you want to get into them, Fables would be a great starting point.
