I think Trunk is an ass, but they've explained more than once on the show why they focus mostly on older acts: They're on VH-1 Classic, and have to cater to the (perceived) interest of that audience.. They did have some guests from newer groups from time to time, though. And Don and Jim would talk up music by less mainstream bands.
yeah, but even that doesn't explain why they have Taime Downe on the show, who was a washed up has-been even before the modest hit of "House of Pain".
Look, Eddie's the guy flying the flag, I get it, but he never quite got that people were watching because of who he knew, not because of who he was. I loved "Stump the Trunk" but not because of his nonsense or antics, but because once in a blue moon I would learn something. But listening to Trunk recite the first eight Sabbath records in order isn't really that impressive.
My beef with Trunk is that he is a ridiculous self-promoter. He prides himself as being somehow responsible for things like The Winery Dogs, and that is just ridiculous. I don't care if you prompted the introduction, there are SO many other variables...
I will miss some of the conversation with guys like Tom Keifer, who don't get an outlet otherwise, but beyond that, I probably won't miss this much.
