The 'best things that have ever happened in DTF/DT.net' thread
« on: January 18, 2016, 12:54:00 PM »
This is it, folks. The maximum nostalgia thread I could possibly think of.

For some reason, I was going through my daily responsibilities until 'Progger...can't spell?  :omg: ' came to my mind. Good times, I tell you.

Got any cool old stories? People to remember? I, for one, got lots of things to recall since registering in times of the infamous Octavarium sub-forum.

2. Be the first to get to the new album threads.

3. Make up your own DT album art / titles threads.

On a personal note, the hefdaddy facts were pretty fun.

True, they were awesome.

Also, there was a time in which newcomers kept putting you in a godlike status with everything you said or did.

1. The MP has quit DT Thread.

I remember that was a long-ass thread, but I don't remember anything specific. Do you? I just remember there was a lot of mindless speculation, confusion and intense debate.

I haven't been here as long as you guys, so I don't have any old story. But this picture sums up some of the best stuff I've seen here so far.

Jamesman's thread about the "If you (don't) XYZ, we are not a match" girl from some Christian dating website

Man, that was a crazy profile that gal posted. And as, to this day, you occasionally see a ".... we are not a match," post on here, then it should definitely be considered a winner.

Not sure if anyone still here will remember this, but the "Archie is the best" thread back in 2004 (I think) cannot be topped.  It was literally 7-8 pages of non-stop hilarity. You had to be there.

Oh god Icy...OH GOD ANDY. AHHHHHH!!! So nostalgic. So horrific. There were some great moments. I was lurking for most of 'em except the aforementioned horrifying peeps and their antics.

Icysk8r for Forum Baby escalated pretty quickly.
SO quickly.

I also had the old screen name AxelCross back then too, very briefly.

I remember the week-long crash... I was at my granny's. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO CRASH AT A TIME WHEN THAT WAS ALL I HAD!?

I remember the day that Numbers joined too. He grew up so fast. That little wavy-haired shite.

Man...on the real though. The nostalgia pain is immense. Browsing FFXI forums and DT.net back and forth...then having my shitty internet go out and reading some old school manga IN AN ACTUAL BOOK OMG and then back to lurking.  :lol

The 'be the first to get to the new album' threads are always good.

I joined 2011, and I've seen some fun stuff. But I can't remember laughing as much out loud at something here as hadi-persian's posts. Probably the best I've seen here.

Also, worst thing that happened: Jaq flipping out, insulting all of us, and leaving this forum because of Game of Thrones.

I miss Jaq quite a bit.

He and I were of an age and saw eye-to-eye on a lot of things. I've never completely understood the "rage quit"...for certain I completely understand the frustration and anguish of his personal situation: I too have to live with the same challenge, but, intellectually it was out of character for him. While some folks were defending the writers of GoT choices, I didn't see anyone actually applauding the act. I wonder if there was some other reason he needed to be away from here and used that as an excuse.

One of my faves was the thread with pictures of DT in concert, mostly the individual guys, and people captioning them.

Some of my favourites over the years:

"I live with...", where we ended up making photoshops of MP for "Freedom...serenity...kindness..." from The Shattered Fortress.

"Mouse", of course!

Even though it wasn't completed, "Scenes from My Memory" was pretty awesome.

And in more recent times, both the cone and Whahíbrido pickingant discussion threads have had me in stitches.

I love how these moments just happen. The forum takes something and just runs with it, with hilarious consequences. Good place to be, this.  :tup

Is he the one that had the issue with the rape scenes in GoT?

I joined right around the 8vm release, so this was also before my time.

Clinks!  Man, how did that thread not get archived?

There was also a 10-page or so segment in the 'post your pic' thread a few years back, where a member (I forget who... James perhaps) started a new id, trolled us all and posted some hunky model picture as his own, pretending not to know much English as well.  God, I was in tears over that one.
