Are they so bad it only took you one sentence to summarize each song?

EDIT: Nevermind, didn't see the :friday: there, this evening would be pretty quick anyway.

Yeah, too quick for my own taste, despite having given everything at least 3 listens at this point. I'll do another listen later today, 2 more tomorrow, nothing the day after, and a final one while doing writeups on Friday. With an hour and a half of material, this feels like the best approach to digest all of these songs :P

  • Hidden Orchestra - Archipelago
  • Hidden Orchestra - Night Walks
  • Hundred Waters - The Moon Rang Like A Bell
  • IAMX - The Alternative
  • Lorde - Pure Heroine

Oh look, another batch of albums I've never heard anything from.

Alright, I think I've heard something from the new The Dear Hunter and Puscifer due to Nick's New-Year-Wrap-Up WPAPU show, but I kinda disliked what I've heard and that's about it.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

We can't be friends then.

Currently listening to an album I never listened to in full before because I'm running short on 'the mighty list' songs that I actually like, the idea is fun but you can expect to get worse songs than normal, maybe I'll recommend better songs of a better album if you liked the submission alright.

Yea but to be fair A Farewell to Arms was my #2 choice, I only wanted to send it if I needed to have another list-submission, if you followed my top 50 you know I prefer Unto the Locust so you probably would've gotten Pearls Before the Swine, This is the End or Darkness Within. If you'll like The Blackening at all (which I assume you will check out) you should at least give them a try at some point in your life.

Every submission I receive from the list, is an album I'll check out even if your song sucked. You could almost say this roulette is a way to organize what albums from the list I'll listen to first :lol

I should definitely send Winger then. That will probably be the worst hour of your life.

I'm not going to do it out of respect for Parama, and because I have other things to send anyway.

Time for sneakpeeks! Notice these are 4th listen impressions (I never trust my first ones, not anymore), so they should be somehow accurate of the final writeups. Preliminar scores ranges about the same as last round, and I'd say this one has been a bit more consistent if anything. Oh, and two people have sent the same band, but different albums, one on the list and the other not. Have fun!

Ohboy, this is like the 4th song with a buildup on this round, what the hell :lol

Well this is pretty nice and chill, I like the unconventional instrumentation. My complaint is that it drags, really.

I really dig the vocal harmonies on this song, and the general vibe of it, quite melancholic.

I get how many will like this, but I prefer my metal more... unique. Not derivative nor generic, with Alter Bridge being the exception because their songwriting is top-notch.

Honestly, I prefer the other song by these guys by a nice margin.

What turns me off from most [genre] albums, and has slowed down my exploration of it is the huge amount of CRAPPY covers. This one, eh... it's alright.

First thing I notice, these guys, despite their influences, have a personal sound, and I always appreciate that.... The best chorus of the round, and maybe of the roulette? It's just excellent.

For being such a long tune, this actually flows very well, and feels shorter. Pretty creative tune.

My problem is, the more I go back in time, the less I'm likely to find pieces I relate to. Maybe had I been born in the [decade], I would have loved this song.

It's pretty badass, yes, but, well... this kind of thing it's not for me.

Honestly, I have never given [band] a fair chance. And this is better than expected.

This is the kind of buildup I like, where something new appears every several bars, so the song keeps evolving and it never gets boring.

I don't know what kind of music this is, other than gorgeous.

This is the kind of music I've heard quite a lot on radios, as in a very similar vein, and had never intrigued me. This, on the other, is very well written.

This is a song that, despite having listened to it several times, I can't remember a single thing from it, besides the beginning. It's nice, but nothing too special tbh.
