Alright, I'll send something today. Funny, I kind of want to make the finals now that I'm so close but I also don't really care if I get the axe.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

alright, if you look up the songs on youtube, expect:
1. the first track to be two tracks
2. the third track to have a minute and a half of ambience at the end
3. the sixth track to be 8 minutes longer
4. the seventh track to be a minute longer

i mean, or you could just listen to mp3's conveniently arranged and modified for the optimal listening experience

To be quite honest, I have little experience listening to 128kbps, so I don't know if I'd notice it. If I remember correctly, scientifically speaking, it becomes practically impossible to distinguish once you get above 256kbps. So I rip everything at 256kbps. I have the highest quality that matters and I'm not using up four times the storage having lossless.

i mean yeah neither my speakers or earbuds are top of the line so
i'm legit not gonna resend the ep tho because i can't be bothered so either you don't listen to it and remain eternally curious or listen to the low-quality files and have your ears bleed, either way i get to see you suffer

Well, if it puts pressure on the other judges if I upload my results fater, then i guess I'll just try to take 2 days after getting the songs. Shouldn't be too hard with only 5 songs, unless everyone starts sending 15 min epics :lol.

Also, Spotify standard quality is not much more than 128kbps, and it still sounds ok I think.

Actually it's much better than that because Spotify doesn't use MP3 as its codec, it uses Ogg Vorbis.

Well, I thought I'd do worse with that song so that's a relief. Let's see if I can find something to send that will keep me alive for the finals.

i legit can't tell the difference between listening to .wav quality on CD's and 128kbps mp3's at all

I never could, until I started buying King Crimson Cds and I started noting slight differences. It does make a difference with certain artists though for me it's still minimum.

I had never heard of that format before.

I had never heard of that format before.
It's almost as old as MP3 is. It was created as an open source freeware alternative to MP3 while also offering better sound quality (though still lossy compression). But MP3 was already too big so it never really gained much ground. I don't think anyone other than Spotify really gives a shit about it anymore.

Sent!

It's an absolute classic and, in my opinion, timeless. One of the greatest and most incredible guitar solos you'll ever hear--always provokes a very visceral response in me. I sent the same song to Ruslan in his roulette. My only regret is that I can't save it for the final two rounds. Unfortunately, it's so tight right now that I don't want to risk missing out on those final rounds. Not that this guarantees me a place, but I think it's one of the strongest submissions I've put forth. Top 3, at least.

Just thought of a awesome track that would've been (in my opinion) a great one to send in Tyrias' or 425's round. Never even considered that band before but now that I think of it, I could get a great score with this one. Or maybe not. Of course, there's that problem it's not Tyrias' or 425's round now. :lol

Will send in the next hour anyway.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Only if it has a ton of glitches and record scratches.

Or if your username is "Parama."

You may want to consider my general feelings towards glitches, my likely feelings towards 36 minutes of glitches, and the fact that, while I'm only 5 out of your 25 points, this is a pretty tight contest.

Oh the glitches are a small part of it, I'm sure you'll all love the song regardless of length ;)

I basically have no confidence in another song rn, so I'll decide what to do later.

A different one - the 36-min epic is reserved to the finals if I make it to them. Realised you'd probably not appreciate it enough on this round

I mean my score will be worth twice as much in the finals, but at least I would be happier about only having two other songs to listen to in addition to the ridiculously long one instead of four.

It's Cassandra Gemini with the first chapter of the song played twice.
people on this board are actual music fans who developed taste in music and not casual listeners who are following current fashion trends and listening to only current commercial hits.
