Also, thank you Mr. Red for not liking Neil Young.

For a completely different reason than you, though   :-\

I can understand the dislike for his voice much more than this one... Bloated? Are attention spans shrinking?

Oh well. I was never able to properly match my submissions with the primary judge's tastes (if I'd just swapped round 7 and 8 I'd be sitting on 165.5) and it's obvious that I played to 425 much more than the other two. Anyways, it was fun while it lasted and Scorpion is very good company to exit the competition with.

Thanks for running this Bolsters.

So are these last two rounds equal, or there's one elimination?

You three are in it until the end, no more eliminations.

Hey, at least now we can say that we've come a long way from this:

I'm not that familiar with 425

I want to leave my best song for the last round because drama. I'll send something tomorrow, choosing from my 69-song-championship-playlist if I still have something either not banned or worth sending  ;D

how do you have a 69-song playlist, i don't think i've considered 69 songs in total across every roulette i've played in  :lol

I was kind of expecting this outcome based on what I know about the tastes of the other judges.
Seneca really suffered from sending the right songs, but in the wrong rounds. With some better timing you could have made it to the finals easily. Thank you for sending the best song of the roulette (Bird of Sorrow), as well as some other stuff I'll check out.

Scorpion, you wete probably the most consistent player for me. Never amazing, but no duds as well. The song that stuck with me the most was probably Diablo Swing Orchestra, just for how refreshingly different it was. Thanks for playing.

For the remaining players, I'm looking forward to your submissions. I'm expecting big things from the top three. ;)

I used most of my big things in 425's roulette so they're banned now. :lol

I think I will be able to find something though.

I was expecting it, so I'm glad that 425 liked my song a fair bit, at least. seneca, I can only echo what you said - you're good company to leave a roulette with.

Anyway, it's been fun. Good luck to those remaining.

Man I'm so glad that payed off  :lol. I'll take my time to decide what I wanna send next, I need to get back on the lead.

Edit: Also no Mr. Red, that song is not part of a concept album, it's just weird on it's own  :P

So now that I posted this same post in Bolsters because I can't do posting after a difficult working day, here we go:

Quote
Alright judges, before I send, I've got a question... how much attention are you willing to spare for each song now there's only three of us? I've got a very complex song, power metal, progressive metal, orchestra, lots of overlaying vocals, harmonies, the storyline, lots of subtle textures and changes of pace, 14+ minutes long too. But it really requires multiple listens (and I mean not 4-5 listens, I mean 10+ listens) to take everything into account. At least that's how it was for me.

Just be honest here, if you ain't gonna bother, I'm going with something much shorter and accessible.

Just be honest here, if you ain't gonna bother, I'm going with something much shorter and accessible.

I could see myself upping it from 3-4 listens (what I've been doing) to 6-7. As I tried to explain in an earlier post, I have a pretty temperamental ear which I can't really help, and which makes it very tough for me to do 10+ listens and finish on a timely basis. I could commit to listening to your song twice a day for 5 days if you really wanted me to, but I would get sick of most songs listening to them that much in that small of a time span.

So I would say either send it counting on me getting it well enough in 6-7 listens, send it and ask me to go for 10 and risk me getting tired of it, or send something else.

If it matters, I will take into consideration if there's a song that I like a lot on my roulette listens but don't entirely "get" yet, where I'm confident that there's more there to get. Just ask Parama about Light of Day, Day of Darkness (which I actually just recently got on CD). :lol

Okay, sent. Hopefully this will be enough to get me at least to the second place.

Also, 425, no offense, but remember how I was furious regarding you guys not recognizing different singers on Avantasia - Savior in the Clockwork? Well guess what, I went back to your roulette thread while choosing the song for this round, and here's what I've found...

Avantasia’s The Scarecrow, the first of two epics, follows, and this one is clearly a different sort of metal song right of the bat, as the intro heavily incorporates the folky, celtic sound that appears throughout the song. It’s a pretty good moment when the heavy guitars and then the keyboards come in and play the same riff that had been playing before. Now, I know this is multiple singers because Evermind told me, but I’m not quite sure where one ends and the other begins. But in general, I would say that the vocal aspects of this song are very good, though not great.

I know I'm left here alone competing with non-metal folks, but if any of you metal folks are reading this now - I'm not usually the one to drop the f-word lightly - but can you fucking believe that, guys? :lol

Deciding between two potential songs, will send in a while. Funny thing is one of them will appeal to two judges a lot, and not so much to the remaining. The other the same, but different judges :lol
