Also, how long has it been since I've won one of these? :lol

Think it coincided with when your tastes went off the deep end.

Congrats Lucas, now I don't feel too bad losing to the future champion :P Rich, you really should've sent Weather Systems instead I think.

Vmad, as I said, thanks for having me and running this in a timely fashion. Nice roulette all around.

So a quick post-roulette update:

I've had the chance to check out additional music from almost every the artists that was submitted. Some, I still feel like I need to dig in a little more. Some others I feel like there isn't much there for me. A few caught my attention immediately. So below are the list of the artists that had the strongest staying power (those that were added to my regular rotation of music I've been listening to) for each round.

Round 1:

Poolside: This one surprised me. This band did not do so well in the first round, but as I listened to more of their stuff the more and more I liked them. Good stuff.
Dredg: So this band only has 2 albums? Good stuff though. Enjoy them a lot.
The Midnight: Similar to Poolside, this one surprised me. Really like the stuff I heard so far.
Closure in Moscow: Not much to say here, I like their sound and style.

Round 2:

Slice the Cake: I don't know what to make of this band yet, but what I heard so far seems good.
Avatarium: A band I need to explore more.
Nevermore: Exploring a little more from this band, I wish I would have listened to them sooner.
Flaming Row: The album the song I receive is from is pretty good. I saw they only have one more album. Hope it is as good as Elinoire.
Scar Symmetry: See Slice the Cake write up.
Fair to Midland: Interesting band, this one I need to dig in a little more.
Tempel: Limited amount of music, but what is there, is pretty good.

Round 3:

Iamthemorning: I really like the mood and style from this band. Really interesting stuff.
Bat For Lashes: Yeah, sending a cover was not a good choice. I like their music enough, at least what I heard so far.
Abstract Illusions: Not what I was expecting based on the song that was submitted, but good stuff nonetheless.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard: What??

Round 4:

*Crickets*

Round 5: Not much to say about any of these artists. This was a pretty strong round from everyone.

Alcest:
Asterism:
Bjorn Riis:
Submotion Orchestra

Qarterfinals:

LCD Soundsystem: I knew of this group, but I just never bothered exploring them because the first song I heard was...."interesting". I'm glad the rest of their stuff is different.
Árstíðir: Good stuff. I don't know if I was expecting something different, but I like them.

Semifinals:

Persefone: Interesting sound. Like what I heard so far.
Godspeed you! Black Emperor: Interesting stuff. Not something I would listen regularly, but good to have around for those days.

Finals:

*Crickets*

I'm still planning to explore more of the other artists in case something else clicks, but so far, these are the ones that I connected with right away. If there is something I took away from this roulette, is that I like Doom Metal more than I initially thought  :lol

In the sense that, I had no details about why their music resonated with me  :)

I was talking about my last place faceplant.   ;D

Good to hear you like The Midnight though.  And several other artists I didn't send but are favorites of mine.

So a quick post-roulette update:

Love when hosts do that. :tup I might have to give a post-roulette update for all my three roulettes when I start the new one. :lol Glad to see some of my artists there.

Avatarium: they've got solid stuff, my first two albums are my favourites but I've heard people saying they really like their recent output so there's that.
Flaming Row: Mirage - A Portrayal of Figures is really solid. Don't bother with The Pure Shine.
iamthemorning: Lighthouse and The Bell are more polished, the first two records, ~ and Belighted, are a little rough around the edges, but overall every album is a good listen. Love them.
Bjorn Riis: very good when you need some sad guitar-driven music.
Árstíðir: my favourites are the self-titled and Hvel, but there are some gems on the other albums too.

Dredg: So this band only has 2 albums? Good stuff though. Enjoy them a lot.

They have 5 studio albums, a live album, and a bunch of EPs.  A lot of fans pretend the last studio album doesn't exist though.

Huh, does this link work?

https://music.youtube.com/channel/UC8Ck28wQMg5X4ASxgFmRerA

It shows 4 studio albums (and one live album) and two singles for me, so it's missing the debut and EPs.  But you can't always rely on what streaming services show, sometimes their licensing agreements don't cover a band's entire discography.

Yeah Dredg has 5 studio albums and the last one is a bit odd from the rest. I don't mind parts of it, as a whole it's a very mid range album. Albums 2,3 & 4 are great listens. The first one has a deftonesy vibe to it and is fine but 2-4 are excellent.

Yeah, Pure Shine was Pure Shit

As to Asterism, give a listen to the full album Guernica that Church is off of. Pretty impressive for a bunch of kids to do a complex instrumental concept album based off a Picasso painting.
