Good Morning. This has been a shitty fucking morning so far.
So... back story: Lots of fighting and drama at home. Enough to make me basically spend my 2 days off (Wed / Thurs) out and about avoiding home. I got home at like 11:30 PM last night. Spent the evening roaming around. My street was packed, so I parked in our Permit Parking overflow lot. I did not make use of my permit, as it was on my Isuzu (with it's blown headgasket... still trying to get rid of it). I parked with out my permit because I have never seen a car towed from that lot. I've seen our shitty parking enforcement company ticket cars that have sat there for months w/out a pass over and over again... and over a year ago my Cutlass had been ticketed like twice over the course of a year for no pass, as well as my roommate (at that time)'s truck. So I thought nothing of it.
I came down this morning, already running late, and my car was gone. I called the towing company and confirmed they had my Honda. Ok. $260 dollars. Fuck. Ok. So I hope in my Isuzu and pray it makes it to work. I call the security company and ask for their supervisor on duty to call me. I get a call a little later and I explain that while I understand WHY I got towed, I needed to know what their official policy was. I told him don't bullshit me with their cookie cutter responses. I'm a fucking supervisor for a security company and I supervise the approval of Private Property Impounds all the time. I told him of the inconsistencies I've seen with how his guards patrol the lot and write tickets. I told him that I've seen them pull into the lot and not even look at cars. I told him that where I work we have a system of checks and red tape that prevent us from wrongfully towing someone. I explained how detailed our records are when we tow. The dude seemed dumbfounded and said to talk to the property management company.
I called the management company and left a long message basically explaining that I believe they need to look into how the company they hired handles enforcement and explained the inconsistencies.
I do this shit for a fucking living. I know the difference between right and shady... and this shit was shady. Legal, but shady.
And now I get to borrow money from someone and try to get my car out after work today. FML
