I didn't drink beer on those days.
Why is Thursday different?

It's Thirsty Thursday.  We hit up the local dive for Happy Hour after work on Thursdays.  Every single Thursday, except when it's a holiday, we're out of town, or some other pressing engagement prohibits, for probably the last 7-8 years.  It's so ingrained into our schedule and our week that not doing it would feel very very wrong.  :lol

I finished what I needed to do today at 9:30. First day that I've been bored here.

Do you work on Friday?

Well, I go to work on Friday.

I don't know how it ever started happening that we chose Thursdays, but we just went one Thursday night with some friends and somehow it kinda stuck.  Turns out, it was a good thing, since my gigs were usually on Saturdays.  We could drink Thursday, rehab on Friday, and be ready to drink again on Saturday.

Well, it's not just you.  Thursday is a big "go out and party" night everywhere, AFAIK.

It just never really made sense to me if you have to work on Friday as well (which I always do).

Our band at church has its rehearsals on Thursday nights.  We occasionally go for a beer or two afterwards, but I could never go full-on beast mode unless it was a Friday night.

I've OFTEN said to myself "Why do we do this to ourselves when we have to work on Friday", but then I remind myself that we'll be drinking again on Saturday, just hanging around the house, so that makes it a little easier to stomach.  We don't get completely stinking rip-roaring trashed on Thursdays.  Well, at least not all the time.  We go to the bar, have a few and have dinner, then go home, where we can continue to drink a little more carelessly, knowing we don't have to drive anywhere else.

I'd love to tear it up during the week.  I just fall asleep too early to hit quota.

I made no claim to is veracity, merely its (false) profundity.

I'm not so sure it is false.

It says specifically "In the province of the mind."  The mind is how we receive and process information.  So, relative to the individual, belief would eventually be truth, in every way they could determine, regardless of what an outside observer would perceive as truth.

Also, the old saying that "perception is truth."

It's amazing the things you can convince yourself to believe are the truth.  I know a conspiracy theorist that believes things that would make an average person be like "WTF is wrong with you?"

I'm talking like 9/11 truther-grade nutjob here.  This guy thinks that all the kids and teachers and parents in the Sandy Hook shooting were all actors and that it was a hoax orchestrated by the government in order to try to push further gun control laws, in order to take away more of the average citizen's freedoms.  And mean and bullying about it.  If you don't buy his brand of crazy, he'll talk down to you rudely (over Facebook, no less) and block you entirely, because you're a sheep who doesn't get it and won't believe anything not spoon-fed to you by the MSM.

I had to sever ties with the guy because of his behavior.  Shame, too, because the guy is a phenomenal bass player.

You have it exactly right. There is plenty of truth behind that fortune. It's called solipsism. It's the idea that one's own mind is the only thing that matters, and that everything we see around us doesn't exist except as our mind sees it. Your perception of things are all you know to be true. To write the fortune off as false would basically erase your perception of everything around you.

I never really take fortunes to mean much, I was just surprised that it wasn't one of the inane ones I'm now so accustomed to getting.

I had one that said "A clean tie attracts the soup of the day" and another that read "Eat your vegetables so you can be big and strong like Popeye."

Exactly. Solipsism is interesting to read about, but it gets really deep and can make you go, what the fuck.  :lol
