I love Bob's Burger.

I cannot fucking stand that show. It's as bad as modern Simpsons, except without the decade of great stuff beforehand to explain its existence.

That's awesome Jay! Congrats!

What will you be doing?

Well the technical job title is Human Services Agency Client Benefits Specialist. Essentially I am going to be a case worker for people's benefits (CalFresh aka Food Stamps, Medi-Cal / Medicaid, etc).
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Congrats Jay! Sounds like quite a change from your security work.

Speaking of security, there was something shifty going on last night. I was just going to bed a bit after 5am, and a ute pulls up in front of our house, and two young dudes in hoodies get out and walk off down the street (luckily not towards our house, which I was expecting). Then about 10 minutes later, they walk back just as suspiciously and the car drives a bit towards them, and they hop in and drive off.
I don't know what was going on, but I'm certain whatever it is was bad. Maybe they're casing the street.

Meeting my best friend for lunch today. Should be fun. I think the rain has moved on and it will gradually clear today. In desperate need of some sunshine and not being sick anymore.

Well, Bear's tuition for kindergarten next year is paid in full so that's a weight off me. Until the time comes to decide for the following year. I wish we could justput him in private school where I went for 8 years, but $$$$.

Tuition for Kindergarten doesn't compute to me. Really?

He goes to a private early childhood education preschool that is amazing and he loves it, and is relatively affordable for what he gets. I want to keep him out of public school as much as I can afford to, and the kindergarten at the ECE is just as wonderful as the preschool, so we opted to send him there next year. If he goes to public next year, he'll be ahead of the game, and if we can somehow send him to private next year, he'll be right on track.

I've been doing about as much as I can in this horrible weather. Today was 42C/107F, so fuck that. I cannot wait for Autumn/Fall. Technically only a few days away, but I don't think the weather got the memo.

Thanks. Education for my kids is something for which I am willing to pay a premium, as long as I can afford to do so. The 8 years of private schooling I had were the best thing my parents could have given me, looking back, because college was a breeze for me. The education I received was unreal and I can only hope to be able to provide that for him and his sister.

I'm sure I don't really need to mention it, and it probably doesn't apply to you, Hyperplex: Due diligence is still required even with paid private schools. There are a lot of schisters out there taking money from concerned parents.

Oh you are absolutely right. Sending someone to a private school without any background work is just asking to be taken to the cleaners and screwed.
I would love beyond a shadow of a dream to send them where I went, where I have more than a vested interest, but it also happens to be one of, if not the, most expensive school in the state.

Although not private, we sent our daughters to a local charter school.  We have been extremely happy with that choice.

Three of my kids went to a charter high-school, the Academy of Math, Engineering and Science. All three had a good experience, but only one (Pod 2.0) has chosen a career in science (physics).

One of the things that's irritated me about some folks I know who sent their kids to private school is when the child doesn't do well, there attitude was, "I paid a lot of money for little Johnny to get a head start." Then when you question them further you quickly discover, that's all they did!
