Mine was pretty loud right out of the box.  I've learned to ignore it.

When I heard the CPU I was buying had 12 cores I reckoned I'd need liquid cooling just based on how hot the room was with my old quad core. Maybe the cooler is that efficient but I suspect the CPU just isn't as watt hungry as all that. One of the first things I did with this machine was render a 1080P, 8 minute animated slide show for my daughters wedding. It did the deed in less than 12 minutes while engaging every core at less than 40%. Not a flicker of heat came out of the top fans. It was amazing!

I suspect Avenged Seven Fold isn't a real popular band with the residents 'round these parts. The kids started a discography thread a week ago and a new kid from South Korea started and Opeth discography just this past Sunday. The Opeth thread has three times the replies and twice the views.

CPUs are designed to be able to safely run at 100% without blowing up, so 40% was probably nothing for it, even with all cores active. With each generation, CPU dies get smaller, more energy efficient, and run cooler.
I remember a couple of Summers ago when I had to render 3D video the entire night to get it done, and it was stinking hot, and the top of my computer case was too hot to even touch, and it was loud as hell from the sound of my CPU fan crying. And I had to leave it running like that overnight to get my work done on time. I did eventually compromise and set the renderer to only use half the cores, which meant half the speed, but at least it didn't melt.
My computers don't get happy retirements. They die horrible fiery deaths in the line of duty. :lol

Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

That's what she said.

wait...
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I really really don't understand what the person who came up with the idea of greeting cards was thinking.  A stupid amount of money to be spent on an piece of paper, that has become an obligatory gesture for any number of different holidays.

Yeah they're stupid. I hate "joke" cards. Someone else's idea of what is funny. You didn't even make the card or invent the joke. you just bought it and signed it.

It's weird. People would prefer you bought something you didn't make rather than actually put effort into something home made because that would be "cheap"...

I appreciate the gesture when I get birthday and christmas cards but I rarely buy them myself.

I appreciate the thought, but then you almost feel obligated to keep it for a while, because someone bought it for you.  Then there's the fact that if you don't get cards for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Anniversaries, Birthdays, and God knows what else, you're in the f*cking doghouse for it.  I truly feel like they're one of the stupidest inventions ever.

The only time I could MAYBE see the use for it is in an instance where someone's sick or someone died, and a group of people sign it and send it all as one, but even then, the more thoughtful option is to make a phone call if you can't offer your thoughts in person.  And it's a brazillion dollar industry.  So ridiculous.

My bro and I like to send each other completely inappropriate cards for birthdays and christmas...

like..he's 32 this year and i'd send him a card for a 5 yr old girl :rollin

At least that's funnier than sending a card with a  joke in it which may not be to the other person's humour.

Don't even get me started on greeting cards. Stupid waste of time and resources. However, this year we got a lot of Christmas cards with pictures of the people who sent them. They were actually really cool and I found a bunch of websites to make custom ones. Those I'm alright with because they are really festive, they picture your friends happy, and they make for great decoration around the holiday. The stuff in Rite Aid and CVS is shit though.

This is the kind I'm talking about.
