If a group of people all wanted to have an arm lopped off - we'd need a name for people who didn't feel the need to have an arm chopped off. . .

Cis-Pedaled..::) :lol

While I agree with you all, one could pose the same question in another way: are you against the term "heterosexual"?
I don't think that's the same thing.

How come? I think the principle is the same: once a term was coined to non-offensively describe a group of people with a non-conventional preference, an antonym was coined to describe the convention for convenience.
There is already a term for "cisgender".  It is "normal."

It's OK not to be normal.  That's what tolerance and acceptance are for.  But that doesn't mean we have to come up with a new word for "normal" to make the non-normal feel better.

I can see why people would be uncomfortable with the word normal. Being told you're not normal, while not always the case, probably makes most people's brains default to 'defective' or 'flawed'. I don't see it that way, just playing devils advocate. Normal in this context, to me, is nothing more than what would or would not have worked 10,000 years ago from genetic survival standpoint.

Cis-and trans are latin prefixes meaning "this side" and "the other side" respectively and are used in the context in many other places (for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cis%E2%80%93trans_isomerism). Hence there is nothing wrong with the term cis-gender given the word trans-gender exists. I do agree on the fact that normal (used in the statistical sense) does convey the same idea, but similarly I acknowledge that for some people, especially those of a underprivileged group, might find that the word "normal" is a bit exclusionary given that it implies that others that do not fit that description are "abnormal", which can certainly be used disparagingly or negatively. Hence it is perfectly understandable they wish to create a label that is more inclusionary and I see no problem with it.

If it wasn't for DTF, I would have never heard cisgender and I know quite a few gay and lesbians who are friends.  They never call me that.  Though they have other names they call me. :lol

I'm pretty open minded about stuff. I'm not anti gay. You can have gender re-assignment surgery if you want.

But don't label me because i'm not part of a tiny minority.

Being normal is boring anyway. I'd take being called "weird" and "different" as a compliment :lol

What's up, Mr. Oakes?  I didn't stop at a cafe today. I might be going out later on so I'll stop by Starbucks near my house. I'm so exhausted that I'll definitely need the extra boost.

On an unrelated note, a coworker brought in a two page article he saw in New York Newsday (which is a Long Island newspaper) about the new Dream Theater CD. I haven't had the chance to read it, but it was really nice of him to do that.

And they look scary as shit and not some clean futuristic pod.

Hey guys.

I just heard that my company just lost the account adjacent to my own. Sucks because I think the guys (3) are getting laid off.
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

I know if I lost my job, I'd just work with King and telecommute.

"Yeah King, one second. I'm just posting something"

"No, I'm not working late tonight. I'll still Losing Faythe."

"Yes, I'll cover for you while you're having a liquid lunch."

"No, I will not interview some guy named Blob. He sounds like a disease."
