I only got about 7 or 8 inches.

I am hoping that a significant portion melts today.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Man, above you they got pounded.  After that month and a half stretch we had here, I want nothing to do with significant snowstorms.

Hey guys. Working on university stuff again today. Had a great after-concert party yesterday with my choir so I got up late today and it was hard getting concentrated enough. But now that I've made myself a cup of tea and put on Rachmaninov I'm finally concentrated enough.

So I should probably close my DTF browser window now  :lol

Which Rachmaninov?

I have a very good vinyl recording of his 1st and 4th piano concertos, the Paganini rhapsody and Variations for two pianos, performed by Ashkenazy and the London Symphony Orchestra. Picked it up for about 5 euros on a flea market I think...

I don't think I ever listened to the 1st in full. I'm going to check it out now if it's on Spotify. Generally when I'm at work and relaxing, it's always Mozart. I'll change it up today. And it's on now...

Have fun! Not much of a Mozart fan myself apart from his piano sonatas, the Requiem and a few other pieces. It's a bit samey to me although it all sounds very beautiful.

Hey gang. I was wondering.

But of a healthy snacking Q.

How healthy is it to eat mixed nuts ( assuming they're not smothered in salt ) ?

Obviously in moderation but was wondering are they actually any good for you or what ? :)

Thanks ! KB

Nah, that can't be it!

I didn't get enough sleep the night before, so I fell asleep last night early while watching Doctor Who. I'll probably be waking up at 3pm again within a week.

After doing a lovely melodic, nice indie rock album...

My next project is a filthy nasty ugly downtuned sludgy metal album  :metal :xbones

Harder to make sound good mix wise but a lot more fun to write  :coolio

That's ok, I don't think anyone expects downtuned sludge metal to sound good mix-wise. :lol

A lot of bands produce sludge metal these days without even trying.

Not really......busy with a house move so plenty to work on.   Got talked into going to a country horse racing thing (bus ) with parents from my son's school on Saturday though.  Really not looking forward to it - small talk with people I really can't be fucked talking to.  Going to have to bring plenty of ouzo to make it through  ;D

What about you?

I think England goes gaga more for St. Patricks Day than St. George's Day.

Maybe because Irish = guinness = pub & stupid hats.

St. George's Day just means waving a St. George Flag around for one day coz u fackin lav ya cantry ya kant.

I am in no way proud to be English. I think being proud of something you didn't achieve and put 0% effort into is stupid.

How far are you moving?

5 mins away  ;D  But totally different style of house/facilities and moving a truckload of stuff from a big 5 bedroom house / third of an acre into a much smaller one on a smallish block .  So plenty of planning to do outside of the norm.

I'm really not fussed about Australia Day either.  I am a bit more patriotic than you I think , but our country has lost a lot of the identity that it had when I was growing up , so I'm not fussed these days.  And I can also see that it does more harm than good in terms of the "traditional owners" ,so I wouldn't care if it was dropped.

Well I don't think it would be possible to be less patriotic than I am. :lol I find Australia's "identity" embarrassing anyway, and think a lot of it is forced these days in an attempt to maintain a unique cultural identity. But I think we're basically just the bastard lovechild of the UK and US with a few quirks these days, and I'm plenty ok with that.
What motivated the move?

I'll try to keep this as short as possible.

We have two hotels and one home on a large property block. My boss (the owner) is a real penny pincher so she wanted wifi for the whole hotel but didn't want to pay for the business internet access. So we ordered the top tier internet service at the house. I grabbed a few 5ghz UBNT routers, set up PtP network connections with the may access point. Then I grabbed a few 2.4ghz routers and set them as access points for hotel guests to log into.

What I did today was just move the routers around so I had better line of sight.

You should also get a wifi network scanning program like NetStumbler or InSSIDer to scan for nearby wireless signals. They'll tell you what channel the nearby wireless signals are using so too many devices aren't taking up the bandwidth.

I used to use netstumbler but the beauty of ubnt routers is they have a built in scanner. I can log in and scan the area to see how busy each channel is.

Man I just had a flash back to 11 years ago when I would do wardriving with my buddy and netstumbler was the program of choice .

It's still a fairly popular program to use, though there are newer programs that come with multiple additional options.
