Is it just a normal Macchiato ?

When I worked at Starbucks we had the Caramel Macchiato which is basically a latte with some vanilla in and the caramel pattern on top.

If I remember right - the normal Macchiato is just a double espresso with foamed milk on top.

I thought a macchiato was a small cup of foamed milk with a double poured down the center. Right?

Not the way we made it :p

It was a double espresso with foamed milk on top.

Oh - - - and Espresso. Not Expresso :p

I think the ratio of espresso to foamed milk is the difference.

Caffe Latte is 2/3 hot milk, 1/3 coffee with a layer of foamed milk on top
Latte Macchiato is more milk than espresso
Cappuccino is 1/3 hot milk, 1/3 espresso, 1/3 foamed milk
Caffe Macchiato is more espresso than milk

I might not have it exact, but I think I'm close enough

Starbucks ( when I worked there last year )...

Latte - All milk with a double shot. Milk is slightly foamy.

Macchiato - Double shot with foamed milk spooned on top.

Caramel macchiato - Vanilla at the bottom. foamy milk and then a double shot and caramel drizzle.

Cappuccino. Double shot and half milk / half foam.

Flat white - small mug - double shot - non foamed milk.

I know. Nobody in this thread did but fellow Baristas did all the time.

At home I use strong ground coffee in a french press cafetiere - then mug heated up in a plastic bottle - which I then shake :P

Brown sugar. Tastes delicious.

Macchiati will differ depending on what it's called. Caffe macchiato means "stained" or "marked" coffee, so there should be coffee "stained" with a bit of milk. Latte macchiato means "stained" or marked" milk, so it should be the opposite. I'm sure Starbucks changes it up a bit. Either way, the latte macchiato is good.   :lol

Our regulars were all arabic and the one guy - the only drink he ever had was a Grande Caramel Macchiato.

I actually hated Starbucks lattes unless it was with any Origins Espresso or syrup.

I don't know what they do to the beans but just a normal Starbucks latte is awful.

I wonder what they use over here. I'll have to see. Sometimes you can just tell they did something wrong to the coffee if it's just black. The smell is off.

You're not supposed to serve the espresso after 10 seconds as it goes black and bitter. You're meant to put it in the drink immediately.

If they are serving drinks where the espresso is over 10 seconds old then it will be jet black and taste awful.

This is my experience with my gf's sister's newborn. She is a month old and she shits and cries all the time. However when I baby sit her I'll sit down and watch some Star Trek with her and she calms down.

All these coffee drinks and their slight variations remind me of Mexican food.

What's a taco?  Meat, cheese, some veggies and other condiments in a tortilla.

What's a burrito?  Meat, cheese, some veggies and other condiments in a tortilla.

What's an enchilada?  Meat, cheese, some veggies and other condiments in a tortilla.

All these coffee drinks and their slight variations remind me of Mexican food.

What's a taco?  Meat, cheese, some veggies and other condiments in a TOASTED tortilla.

What's a burrito?  Meat, cheese, some veggies and other condiments in a WRAPPED tortilla.

What's an enchilada?  Meat, cheese, some veggies and other condiments in a FOLDED tortilla + an intestine-blocking amount of melted cheese smothered on top.

Makes all the difference in the world.

It's so strange... My mother just died last friday after two weeks at the ICU. Now it's like I'm calm, after the intense hospital routine, it's all silent but there's this big hole inside and the hope that by any moment she'll break through the door and say "Finally got home! What did I miss?"

So... I think the best way is to keep on living, working, making music and letting time do its work. Blah.

I don't know if time really does heal...at least for me. I still get a tightness in my chest when I think of my Dad (gone these 13 years) but it does make the pain more familiar (comfortable?).

My Dad's been gone for 5 years.  I still think about him almost every day.

You just need to be in your normal routine with the other people in your life.  Eventually it gets better.

But don't try to suppress your feelings or run from them.  It's normal to miss your deceased loved one, and its important to cherish their memories, and cry when you think about them.  It's just alsonormal to eventually get back in the swing of things and go on.  And it WILL happen.

It's just... If my mom was like 80 years old or something like that, ok. It's the nature's course. But she was just 48 and it was so abrupt... Well.

"Living and learning, the pressure keeps on burning my soul" makes a lot of sense now, even if the original intention of the lyrics weren't that. Hope it calms down ASAP, I'm pathologically anxious.

Sorry for your loss Lucas.............especially so young.  All these celebrity deaths (many in the 60's) can't help but make me think of my dad (75yo and looking very frail after a recent stroke) - we all know it's coming but that doesn't make it any easier .

All the best.
