So - Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones is going to be a father of twins in the summer.

He'll be 69.

Is that far too old to be having new kids ?

Is it a bit selfish to be expecting 18 year olds to be looking after him when he's pushing 90 ?

Also they'll be without a Dad for most of their life. . .

So I ordered a suit on Groupon. It came in... not bad looking... but its too tight. I gotta find a way to adjust the buttons on the jacket and on the pants to accommodate for my fattness...
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Take it to a tailor, see if they can sort it out. Nothing better then a custom fitted suit.

All this talk of computers...

My bro just got a PC after being a Mac user for a decade.

He maxed out all the specs and the equivalent iMac with the same specs would be far too much money.

He needs it for After Effects and Premiere and whatever else he uses and it's super fast.

Lucky he uses the Adobe programs, since they're all cross platform. Plus with buying a PC, he can upgrade as necessary in future moreso than with a Mac, which again makes it even cheaper.
Out of interest, do you know what monitor your bro uses, since he does graphics?

I'll ask.

34 inch LG 21:9 4K

Looks like a pretty good monitor, although not a high end graphics monitor. AH-IPS, almost full sRGB coverage, ability to calibrate it. Do you know if your bro has a hardware calibrator for it?

I'll do that in time. For now, I want a cheap quick temp fix.

I don't think he's that bothered. Although he does whinge about monitors being in the wrong setting so I guess he knows what he wants...

He hates the setting they put HDTV on in shops so everything - even movies look like Australian TV :lol

He just got a new 3D HD TV and we were watching a new blu Ray and he put it on the shop setting and it instantly looked like Home And Away ...

I assume that would be the 100/120Hz mode, with that nasty interpolation that makes everything look unnaturally smooth. Most people seem to hate the higher frame rate, as evidenced by the response to the Hobbit movies.
How much Australian TV have you even seen besides Neighbours anyway? :lol

Oh you get Home and Away too? Wasn't sure how popular that was there. That just finished yesterday for the year. They pulled a "who shot Mr Burns" storyline.

Don't judge me. It's my dinner time viewing.

We've had those two for decades. It's why I recognised "mouse" from the Matrix.

And Sasha Baron Cohen's wife etc...

Guy Pearce has done well for being in an Aussie soap.

EDIT : Yeah I didn't mind the HFR in The Hobbit to be honest but that setting just makes everything look like it's sped up somehow.

And what about Thor? And the Joker? All of the Aussie actors went through one of those two shows at some point.
I didn't know that dude from The Matrix was in either of those shows, but the girl at the start of the movie at the door who says "definitely" is still in Home and Away. She just got married for the third time. :lol

Yes. That would have been just before she joined the show, I think. She would have been young then.
I've been through the tunnel from the Matrix, in the bit where the car stops and they take the bug out of Neo. Not sure about any other locations.

Morning guys,

Reap, I got your message. I'll respond a little later with a couple of good books and video courses you can use. I studied and passed the CCNP ROUTE exam which is the hardest of the three exams needed to be a CCNP, the other being SWITCH and TSHOOT. I blew it out of the water with a 953 out of 1000. I'm actually thinking about going straight for the CCIE instead of finishing the CCNP. However, I don't know if I will be finished studying in time before my certification expires. So, I might just take the SWITCH exam first or just retake the CCNA to extend the validity of the certification.

Morning, Boss

We took our granddaughter out to dinner last night. While we're sitting there waiting for the server to come take our order, I say, "Well Tessa, 11 huh? Wow, how time flies." She smiled at me just a little and does this  ::)

So I look over at Mrs. P for some clue and she says, "Tessa's 13, Dear." Then Tess, laughs out loud and rolls her eyes again. The three of us are all looking at each other now with heads swiveling like six-shooters at a Mexican stand-off. She giggles again, and says, "I'm 12 Pappa."

This grandparent business is more difficult than you would think. Just as you start to loose your faculties, a crap load of people you need to keep track of come into your life.  :lol

Hey guys. I'm in New York today visiting a few of our sites.  It's a day away from the chaos.

I keep thinking I need to watch Dr. Who so I can get all these cultural references about phone booths and such. When I've investigated it though, the body of work is so daunting that I just can't get started on it.

The original series is not at all necessary viewing to get into the modern series, so it's not as daunting as it looks (I'd strongly recommend starting with the new series either way). The modern series is self contained, it just has the occasional classic series nugget for the die-hard fans.

Even though there would be some references you would miss, you could even start more recently than that, either with the start of Matt Smith's run (series 5) or even Capaldi (series 8).

TNG Series 5 is the best by far.

Series 1 really shows it's Eighties in retrospect. The horrible synthy music over everything and overly dramatic acting.

Thank fuck they ditched all that for Series 3 onwards.

Wait you were talking about work ?

I only did 75 mins today. Mondays and Thursdays are my "Go in and clean up" days. I just clean the kitchen for 90 - 120 mins.
