So, was helping set up the new employees computer last week, determined we needed a three-pronged extension cord so all components could reach. Requested it and it was ordered by the office manager. Package arrives, turns out she ordered a three OUTLET cord, not three-pronged, so it has to go back. Office manager spends much of this morning running errands, including purchasing an extension cord.

She comes back with a power strip. I already had a power strip. I needed an extension cord. She hands it to me and says, "this time you get what you need. I can't find anything that matches what you describe."

So I went, with the company card of course, and grabbed the very first thing I saw; a 12-foot, three-pronged extension cord.

This is why when it comes to electronics, you always get what you need, yourself instead of relying on anyone else. Too much selection and variation to ensure it's done right.

For an office manager, no, it shouldn't be. Some people are just irreparably broken in the head when it comes to these kinds of things. My wife will admit that she's not really very up on electronics type stuff like this, but if I asked her to grab a 3-pronged extension cord, she'd come back with a 3-pronged extension cord. So yeah, your co-workers might be electronics-impaired.

That reminds me of when we had our old regional supervisor / account manager. We have 3 Computers (2 towers and 1 all in one) and 4 screens we deal with. Thats 3 different Keyboards and Mice... and the way the desk is set up, we had to have the mice and keyboards in awkward positions. I kept bugging him for 3 6' USB extension cables, as well as a splitter so I could rearrange things in a more... logical and convenient.

He asks me to find EXACTLY what I need and send him links. I do. a week letter he drops off 3 3' USB extenders and says that's all he could find.

I made it work for months. Until he left and my direct supervisor received a company card. We had another issue with the computer and he had to go out and pick up a USB splitter (Just everyone ignore the fact I was asking for one half a year ago). He had to of course get permission from the owner of the company. We called him on speaker and asked about that and then I also told him we are having issues with yadda yadda and asked if we could pick up more extenders. He said told us he trusts my judgment and told my supervisor to pick up anything that I think we may need to fix the issue.

2 hours later... it was fixed and every one was happy. And not more fucking tripping over mouse cables.

Had an idea for a film...

A spy who is hired for a job because he looks identical to the president or leader of a country. He's supposed to go in and spy on them and gain intelligence but in the end you find out it WAS him all

along and he was getting intelligence on the good guys.
