It's nothing to do with anything like that. It's the processor. Apparently the Linux kernel has known issues with Core i7-6500 processors. So, I'm Googling for solutions.

What are the specs? Sounds like a decent CPU for a laptop.

Not bad specs for a laptop, and I like Asus. I got my budget laptop at the end of 2014, and the specs are basically half of everything there. I only use it for browsing the internet, watching videos, regular shmuck stuff. It's not useful for much more than that.

This is my first time with an ASUS laptop. I like they're other products, so I figured I'd give them a try. I can't really complain about them. This is something I have to figure out. Or just install an older version of Linux. Apparently it's only an issue with some version 4 kernels (4.1, 4.2, 4,4).

I was using it before I went to install Linux and it was super fast.

We've got a couple of Asus laptops in the house, old now though (Core 2 Duo era). Both still work fine, although I've had to replace the HDD in one and pretty sure the other needs the same thing (damn Seagates). My soundcard is also Asus, which I love.
My own laptop is a HP, because it happens to have the specs I wanted. Never again. Total piece of shit.

Yeah, I avoid the big name brand laptops for the most part. No HP, no Dell, no Toshiba, etc. Last time I had an Acer and it lasted a long time so no complaints. I had it narrowed down to ASUS or MSI this time around.

I've found Toshibas to be solid, but my ones were old, so I don't know what they're like now. I'm anti-Dell on principle. Overpriced for what they are.

I've always custom built my PCs from scratch, so I've always hated Dell, because I've always known what stuff is actually worth. I'm also picky as shit about the parts for my PCs.
