Left it unplugged for 24 hours before turning it on.

Light comes on. It hums and everything but doesn't get cold.

Before giving up, you could check a couple of things that require nothing but your two hands.  Check the condenser coils and fan to make sure they're not dirty. Also check the temperature setting which I'm assuming you did already.

Man what a day. All morning verizon has been out here trying to fix our copper land line so we have been without a phone all morning. This has been an on going issue since October and it's really frustrating when they have no idea what the hell is going on.

That's why I don't use Verizon anymore. They are a really pain.

I just got back the office and while I was out, got a new phone: Galaxy S6 Edge

I have the S6.  I like the Edge.  My company's option was a I-Phone or the Galaxy and I prefer Android systems.
