Can't say I ever have.  I tend to lean mostly towards cab sauvignon.

I used to just buy french standards for years, Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Merlot etc. But I've been branching out a bit, with some Italians (I love Chianti) and the Chilean Carmenere, which is really spicy and sharp-ish but not acidic.

I tend to stick locally (Niagara).  Mrs.jingle and I will go on a tour every 12-18 months.  There are 93 wineries in about a 50 mile radius just 90 minutes away from us.  We've knocked off 23 of them so far.

I work for the PLCB (Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board) and had not heard of this variety, but upon a product search, we have a good handful of regular stock Carmeneres:

Anakena
Anderra
Arboleda
Concha y Toro
Las Parcelas
Santa Rita
Terra Andina
Veramonte
Vina Calina
Walnut Crest

Any that you're at all familiar with?

There's a winery here near Lancaster, Nissley Winery, that makes an unbelievable Niagara.  Yum.

A couple others that I routinely find myself going back to, are Snoqualmie Riesling from Washington and Fetzer Gewurztraminer from California.

:lol Would've thought I knew at least one by name. I guess they could be the same wineries selling over here in Europe (or even The Netherlands), but under different names, I don't know. It's more a brand thing, I guess. The Arboleda sound great, though, did a quick search on them.

Word

I just noticed that the cabinet guy, who I hired to finish the cabinets behind my bar, posted this picture on FB.

He decided to do a maintenance coat on the top, so I'll not be able to use it until later tomorrow.

It looks pretty, though.

Thanks King. His cell phone doesn't really do it justice.

For the job he's currently doing. Below is the before and after. (click to enlarge)

The top drawer on the left is a fridge, the bottom a freezer with 4 quart ice tray. The drawer under the wine fridge is for cans (mixer) and bar snacks. The tall skinny drawer to the right of the wine fridge holds syrups, 2 liter bottles, sugar cubes, etc.

He did a fantastic job!

Visiting her grandfather today and making pinto beans with beer and salt pork, fried potatoes with onions, and cornbread. Working on some Yuengling lager now, onto some others later.

That's a good thing, right Floyd?

Right?

Anyway, got the Symphony tonight so I'm feeling particularly genteel. Going with some 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon.

That's a damn fine setup, man. Way to go.

And if your kids are anything like I was, coasters wouldn't be problem but your bottles would diminish disproportionate to your liquor intake. Not sure which you'd prefer.  :lol

Thanks Barto...the offer still stands. If you ever find yourself in SLC, the bar is open. Many of the famous "Bartotinis" have been produced there.

I didn't build my shrine to consumption until after all the kids had moved out, so no problem with unexplained empty bottles.  :lol
