I need to do that. A nice sipping bourbon on the rocks.

I'm telling you, this Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch is tasty and on the inexpensive side. Really surprising.

I think Cincinnati is the visiting team this weekend. If so, their ace pitchers are in the rotation. Not sure how this series will play out.

Nope, no fucking around to be had here.  I figure I put in about 60 hours Mon thru Fi this week, and that pace will keep up over the weekend.  Drinking heavily tonight is preventing me from trying to work tonight...so bring it on!!

Victory Winter Cheer, tasted like a 60/40 mix of Hoegaarden and Budweiser.  Went down the drain after about four sips.

Now Breckenridge Vanilla Porter...much better.

Millahh, going with your first Manhattan option, the sweeter one. Buffalo Trace with  M&R Rosso vermouth. Nice, but I should probably go with the second one. That'll probably be more to my liking.

Buffalo Trace with the M&R is good and it's uncomplicated, but not sophisticated.

The fancy-pants sweet vermouth we use is Dolin.  Less sweet, more herbal with a little astringency.  I easily cuts the Buffalo Trace sweetness.

Ran a bunch of errands today and then took a nap, except that nap extended to 9pm and I missed out on doing things with my friend.  Oops oh well, time for a drink and a relaxing evening home.

Dammit, King...

I'm gonna go to the liquor store tomorrow and just start badgering employees until I get it somehow.

Coz, the other way to tame that Manhattan might be to go 50/50 sweet and dry vermouth.

Just made a killer Bloody Mary with this added, plus I put in a few drops of Naga Jolokia hot sauce.

I really never understood the appeal of bloody marys.  Just can't get into them at all. Although some hot sauce in a drink aint bad at all

My father used to make virgin bloody mary's for me when I was a kid. So, they always appealed to me. Plus, I love anything spicy so it's just a natural attraction.

Makes sense, maybe because I never had one until my late 20s and by then I just was not into that type of drink.

Usually see those with brunches but I've tried and just can't get myself to drink them.  But that is just me.

Bloody Marys work for me, mostly because I love hot sauce, black pepper and horseradish.  Not big on the tomato juice, but, but I can manage.

Back to the Manhattan, the cherries make a surprisingly big difference.  Once you've had proper bourbon marinated cherries, there's no going back to the corn syrup and food coloring infused ones that you buy for three bucks a jar.  They're not good, and can influence the drink more than you'd expect.
