I envy folks who can enjoy Islay Scotch. It's probably a lost cause for me.

I have to be in the right mood.  It's certainly not something I could do exclusively, or even the majority of the time.

Decided to go with Bowmore Gold last night.

@ Joe... it's a good bottle when I'm in the mood for something peaty and smokey.  I dig it.

Cool.  I knew it was slightly different but it was highly rated this year.  Got to have variety!

Had some Buffalo Trace last night.  Likely I'll be back to Perpetual IPA tonight.  It's a good, reliable IPA that I always know I'll enjoy.  The place I go on Thursdays is a total dive, but they have kick ass food and half decent beer selections.

Google Street View of Nathan's Bar and Grill

The place even LOOKS like a major league dive from the outside.  That said, I cannot remember one single time that we've brought people there that they said the food was anything less than spectacular.  I wouldn't expect to walk into a hole like this place and get an ass kicking seafood bisque, for example.  But you can.  30+ varieties of wing flavors that you can mix and match.  If you want to have (Hot)(Cajun)(Honey BBQ)(Chunky Garlic) wings, you can.

For reasons unknown, I'm drinking Curious Traveler: Lemon Shandy.  As far as lemon shandies go, I actually prefer Leinenkugel's.  Anybody else enjoy shandy now and then?

The Leinenkeugel's is my shandy of choice, so I'm of no help...

I've been in kind of a hefeweizen  mood lately.  Although, much like shandies, I'm finding out that they are better in smaller doses.

Not for me.  When it is made like the real German way and you get the banana and cloves flavor.  It's heaven. Brewed it 2 years ago.

And your point is.... ?     But yes, it can be a pricey endeavour.  Put it on your birthday, anniversary, Father's Day and Christmas list.

I like both MacAllan and Glenmorangie, though I've not had the port finish.

Think I'll pour a tumbler of my Oban.

Can't say that I have.

And I switched my drink of choice tonight... Glenfiddich, Malt Maker's Edition.  Finishing off my birthday gift.  There was only about 1.5 drinks left in it - which is probably 6 normal drinks, so I decided I'd free up some room in the liquor cabinet.

I feel like we've discussed this before, but do you have a specific recipe you follow?

There are a few different go-to's:
-2 oz buffalo trace, 1 oz macro-brew sweet vermouth, couple of dashes bitters, bourbon-soaked cherry (easy drinking, a little on the sweet side)
-2 oz woodford, 1 oz fancy sweet vermouth, couple dashes butters, bourbon-soaked cherry (more complex, less sweet)
-Perfect Manhattan...2.5 oz woodford, 1/2 ox fancy sweet vermouth, 1/2 oz dry vermouth, bitters, lemon twist (definitely drier & more complex)

Also, there's this, from my wife's blog:
https://www.texannewyorker.com/2015/02/02/bacon-manhattans/

EDIT: In, finished off the bottle of Woodford....

I know rite...

I've had a good handful of those distillery's, though not all the different types.

The exchange rate is gonna be the thing that kills me most though!
