On impulse, I bought a bottle of Oban Little Bay to replace an empty Highland Park 12. I'm excited to give it a try, since I've heard nothing but good about Oban.

Vanilla Jim Beam and cherry coke because that's what I have, and I'm not doing a damn thing today other than laundry.  :lol
From a Mega Man Legends island jamming power metal to a Walrus listening to black metal, I like your story arc.

It's nice having a whiskey drinking woman, isn't it. *Cue Nazareth

Well-played.

Just grabbed a Highland Park 12 to replace the Caol Ila. I'm holding you personally responsible if I don't like it

Fair enough. Let me know if you do, though.

I dig it. From some descriptions I saw, I was expecting a little bit of peat, but I can't find it. Still good, and good to have the diversity in there shelf,  just a little different from what I was expecting.

I just put together that Islay scotches are so in brown/green bottles because the phenols are photosensitive. I'm probably a little late to the party on that one.

Compared to Caol Ila, yeah, not so much. I've never noticed a peat note to HP12, but there definitely is a smoky note in the nose and finish...more like a...campfire(?). Still, I find it has a lot of interesting flavors to chase, but none of the more challenging notes like the Islay scotches.

I'd never heard of the photosensitive nature of Islay scotches. I'm pretty sure Bowmore is in a clear bottle, maybe others?

Ok, I was apparently wrong, colored bottles for Islay scotches is just a marketing thing.  But it make sense,, dammit...phenols are generally photosensitive, bromine compounds are often photosensitive, and using green/brown glass is how to mitigate it.  And Bowmore even has only about 1/3 of the bromophenols as Lagavulin & Laphroaig.  I had such a great line of reasoning worked out...and was just wrong.

Cashed in the last of my Macallan 15 last night, got a Macallan Classic Cut to take its place.

Concert time, things finally are starting to ramp up for 2020 concerts.  Red bull and vodka as I prep to hit the pit for Sleeping with Sirens tonight.  I was watching this video of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nMBwzSeZrw and decided to pull out my old Iron Maiden go to concert shirt from retirement as the drummer is wearing aMaiden shirt in the live video.  I hope to get high fives from them as well  :metal

Yup, was told just an hour ago to be in tomorrow which I expected, but I'm barred from working OT which means I'll just show up at 10am instead of 8.  I should be getting my notice of being an essential worker in case anyone as an issue with me being on the roads during these times.  However, I'm not leaving my house for other reasons.

Okay, my friends. Help me decide. I'm feeling like I'd like a nice dram of whiskey. Below is a photo of my top shelf zoomed in on the whisky section. I (obviously) photoshopped in some labels for the Angel's Envy because they are impossible to read

I made that shelf, Cram. Think of it as a thin box that's open on the top. The inside of the box is lined with dimmable LEDs and a glass top is laid over it. The bottles rest on the glass...voilà.

The thing I’m the most proud of is the signed and numbered Godard paintings 😎

I do think the art is very nice, but would have no idea it was signed or who signed it.  I'd be worried about splashing something on those if it were my bar  :lol
