It's amazing how I can get completely shitfaced on liquor and wake up feeling perfectly fine but I have two beers and I feel like crap the next day. I'm gonna stick to vodka and tequila from now on.

Now that I'm going on 31 I'll get a hangover from anything I drink so I don't pay any attention to what I'm drinking.

Speaking of which, in. Drinking a carolina blonde, my gf keeps getting these beers, they're not terrible but I guess because I don't want them to go to waste she thinks I like them and replaces them.

Almost ordered a Carolina Blonde at the bar I was at tonight. Ended up going with the Weeping Willow Wit from Mother Earth instead. Now back at the vacation house and sipping on a Lux (hoppy rye ale) that I snagged from Bissell Bros while I was in Portland last week.
Photobucket sucks.

Beer is definitely more likely to give me a hangover as well, but specifically heavier beers.

Yup, hit the spot well in this heat, especially in a bar with sub par air conditioning.

Ah.  Timed that vacation right to get Lux.

Yup, went to Bissell that Saturday morning and got a few four packs each of Lux and The Substance (which are now down at the beach with me). Also got cans of pils and a hoppy American ale from Foundation that I really enjoyed.

In my opinion, it's the draft part of draft beer.  I don't know if it's unclean lines or what, but I've basically given up draft beer - except for Guinness - for that very reason.   The only thing that gives me a worse hangover than draft beer is sweet, sweet infused vodkas (all that SUGAR!).

Definitely anything sweet will give me a hangover as well.

Vodka and club soda, no sweetness, lots of water to keep relatively hydrated, and a good kick so you feel it.  Low chance of hangover, doesn't increase my uric acid level, and can taste pretty decent too (a lime helps) ... it's essentially why it's become the only thing I drink.

I'm in. After one screwdriver and two shots of straight vodka I have the perfect buzz right now. Sticking with liquor this time so I shouldn't have a hangover come the morning.

Chevas Regal 12 year old Scotch.

Cheers.

EDIT:  It is 12 year old scotch....but the bottle itself we found after my MIL died.  It had a price tag from when she lived in Texas.....13 years ago.   Does that make it 25 year old scotch?   :hat :coolio

No, once it's bottled it longer ages, or at least so I read.

I've been wanting to try aging my own scotch using a kit I saw online. I'm sure it won't taste great but the process seems neat.

I want some scotch now but I know if I have some I won't have the motivation to do anything for the rest of the day.

As I mentioned in the bar thread...whether you're a Gin drinker or not, you owe it to yourself to try The Botanist. I cannot endorse this stuff enough.

With some fresh cut lime and some tonic this elixir is sublime!

As far as aging scotch, a lot of the character from aging comes from the wood notes and oxygenation while sitting in barrels of some kind for years. Aging in the bottle won't have anywhere near the same impact.

Screwdriver.....a strong one.

That's usually my drink of choice. Either that or a tequila sunrise. Basically I love orange juice.
