We are going to brew a Wee Heavy Scotch Ale this December.  My favorite beer.

Been into the big IPAs lately, like Sierra Nevada's Torpedo and New Belgium Rampant, BUT noticed some weight gain only having a few a week.  Time to go back to a few sips of neat Scotch or The Kraken.

We just looked up that eggnog recipe, That's going to be a project for Saturday, so it can sit for a couple of weeks.

There are a couple under Alton's name.  To be clear, I always use the one on his site, here:

Also, that 12 egg recipe makes about 3/4 gallon, so save an empty gallon milk jug for it.

Yep, that's the one!

Not in just yet (still shaking off a bit of a hangover, nibbling on pumpkin spice biscuits), but will be soon enough.  Grabbed a bottle of the Fat Tire Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough beer (think it's a stout?)...I'm skeptical, but it's so unusual that it might just work.

Correction...it's a chocolate chip cookie dough ale.  I had like six bottles of wine in the hand basket by that point, so wans't paying too much attention to detail.

I'll be damned...it tastes like B&J CCCD ice cream in ale form.  I like it, but I think one is enough.

Yeah, a lot of beers like that are cool in that they taste exactly like what they're supposed to, and are good in small servings, but a lot of them I wouldn't even want a full 12oz. There's a brewery in Michigan called Short's that does a whole bunch of food beers (key lime pie, carrot cake, pb&j sandwich etc..) and they're always a big hit at festivals when they're pouring 2-4oz samples, but nobody really ever wants to pick up a sixer from them :lol

Just to add, that was fucking disgusting.  Thank god there was only one left here.  And I love the summer shandy, but that harvest tasted like ass.

How's that Glenmorangie?

I like it, though I am discovering that I prefer sherry finish (and I've had the Glenmorangie sherry finish, so it's a reasonable head-to-head comparison).  Of that general category, I think Macallan 12 double cask is my favorite.  I'm a sucker for caramel and dried fruit notes.

Also...there's a second location of Taphaus opening, a two minute walk from my apartment.  this could be bad for my liver.

We've been to the original  :lol  You're thinking of Pilsner Haus (which, embarrassingly, I haven't been to either)?

Yes, beer soon.
