From my understanding, I thought absinthe was known to be disgusting a drink not actually have mind altering properties. My only personal experience was in Vegas when I saw the show Absinthe, they were selling a drink that was a fruity vodka cocktail and they said it was topped with real absinthe but even though I bought and enjoyed the drink, figured it was just a gimmick. I wasn't totally sure you could even buy legit absinthe on the US.

In.  Ballast Point Pumpkin Down.  A Scotch Ale brewed with pumpkins. A big hell yeah!

Nice :hat

I got home from work and immediately dove in with some homebrewed mild and saison. Switched over now to a bottle of Hof ten Dormaal saison from Belgium, which is just OK. May open another bottle next or may just have a little homebrew and head out to the bar when some friends get out of work.

In.

Lagunitas IPA all night. Saw my old bass player tonight. He's in a country band now and it rocks.

On to some bottom, bottom shelf Banker's Club bourbon and apple juice.

Ooooh, I love absinthe! Is it the good stuff or a toned down American brand?

It's Absente (which is at least made in France)...though my only frame of reference is Lucid, which seems to be aimed at college kids with too much disposable income...it's 1.5x the price of Absente, and lacks the nuance and balance.  Absente was the recommendation from the barkeep at the hole-in-the-wall absinthe bar in New Orleans where we first had it.

What's your preferred one?

When I used to drink it, it was still illegal here. I used to get a couple of Swiss brands. I recommend Absinthe Angelique, which is Swiss. American absinthes are supposed to be thujone free, or at least stay under a specific amount.

Been drinking different homebrews (mild, ESB, saison) while brewing (DIPA) all afternoon/evening. Now settling in for the evening with a Humulus Reueze from the Bruery. It's a hoppy sour that's gotten a little bit sharp with age, but is still drinking OK for now.

Tequila lime chicken, bacon cheddar, onion burgers banging pasta and Greek pasta salad. Many, many beers.  Night Shift, Clown Shoes, Hill Farmstead,  Garrison City,  Stone, plus our Barleywine, and imperial coffee stout.

I had quite a mixture of drinks yesterday. I had some Mojitos at dinner, then had some sort of drink the restaurant makes that is very similar to cognac with dessert.

I got home and cracked open my favorite bottle of port since I bought it for a special occasion so I thought yesterday was the best reason to do so.

Now I'm feeling it, not from the booze, but from the drinks.

Already in for today. Had a nice coffee beer with a big breakfast with some family friends, and now about to start in on some of my beers for the first NFL Sunday of the season. Friends should be coming by as well and I'm sure we'll crack a few bottles as well.

I had a very nice new beer for me Saturday evening.  From Raleigh Brewing Company (one of more than 30 breweries in the area), I had their Hell Yes Ma'am Belgian Style Golden, with an ABV of 9.2%.

Very tasty.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Had a few different beers during the Jets game tonight, and now watching the finals of the WWE cruiserweights tournament and sipping on some Angel's Envy Rye. Not a terrible Thursday evening.

Joe, I asked around at the homebrew forum I'm a member at (www.brews-bros.com, pretty cool place).  So far, I got Five Seasons Brewing (https://www.5seasonsbrewing.com/) and Sweetwater (https://sweetwaterbrew.com/brews/).

One of the members there was head brewer at Orpheus, but moved to another place that's being built.  I've messaged him for other suggestions.

I drank a sweetwater while I was out there.  It was recommended by a lady I met.  However, that particular one I had was not that great.  Just my opinion and Im not nearly the beer conniesuor as you guys are so take it for what little it's worth.
