I'm knee deep in it guys. At a bar having a Hill Farmstead event for NYC beer week. There was a two hour bottle share at the bar before they opened. I've had at least a dozen HF beers, plus a couple randoms from other breweries. I also have fried chicken and sausage gravy and biscuits. Today is a good day.
Continued drinking where I was until a little after 2, and then went to another bar having an event with a couple NYC breweries. After a couple glasses of IPAs and coffee stout, it was time to head home and eat leftover pizza. Now sipping on some Balvenie 12 as I get ready to call it a night.
Photobucket sucks.

The last 'one last whiskey on the couch' is one of the best things ever

I'll write Aultmore down to try. Sounds tasty.
Having some Oban 14 now. About as smoky as I like, thick and rich.

Might pour a little Glenfiddich 15 or 18 later. My wife got me a variety sampler for Christmas that I haven't broken open yet. 'Fiddich is another one of my favorites.

Oh man story time. A couple of weeks ago I played in a bar with my band. The owner was a whiskey lover, and in some sort of weird arrangement a student society had booked us to play in his bar. So he had a free band all night long, and he and the regular customers were loving it. After the show we got in a conversation about good whiskeys and he said 'well let's get a special one then'. So he came back with a bottle of Glenfiddich 30! Great, great stuff. I wish I hadn't already had about 5 whiskeys 'cause my tastebuds were already mildly numb, but the taste was awesome.

Shepherd's Pie is the greatest meal known to man.

Minced beef. Grilled mashed potato on top and a light drizzle of ketchup = PERFECT.

It's so good. I could eat it til i'm sick.

Which one?

In with a boysenberry sour from a small brewery in the Pac Northwest. I damn near lost an eye because the cork came flying out, and there is just a little bit of a medicinal note present, but it's still pretty tasty. The nose is a berry bomb.

Indeed.  It's pretty well-balanced, a little less heavy on the chocolate than some other chocolate porters.  That's not a positive or negative, it just differentiates.  But it is pretty good.

In, half a bttle of chardonnay w/ dinner, now Bushmill's.

So I've put this together...I'm working about 70 hours a week, of which 25-30 are at home.  I spent about half my waking hours at home with a drink in hand.  That means I do about 20% of my work tipsy/buzzed/drunk.  Think about that next time you take a prescription drug :)

Well, I'm usually on something.  It's not prescription though.   ;)  Speaking of beer, though.  Time for another.

In, Manhattan...followed by a bunch of prosecco.

Yes, that seems odd.  But...the Manhattan was decompression, and the prosecco accompanied breakfast for dinner (which was a cajun shrimp omelet drizzles with a sweet tabasco sauce)

My wife has a fairly strong preference for prosecco, and I think I slightly prefer it, doesn't set my teeth on edge.

yeah, it's pretty deranged, but amazing.  My scalp is still tingling, 30 minutes later.  Original recipe actually called for lightly breaded fried oysters, but we're still a little skeptical on them (though we did up a proper oyster po' boy a couple of weeks ago, and it was righteous).

Excellent.  Given that I've finally wrapped my head around whiskey/bourbon, I feel like I need to take the next step into pairing with cigars.  My wife might make me sleep on the couch for it, but it would still be worth it.

You assumed....wisely.  Though I really don't have it often. I would much rather drink a jug of wine, then some jugs of a nice Italian girl.

I'm so glad I hated oysters til 10 years ago cuz it really demonstrates the absence makes the heart grow fonder dynamic since I fucking adore them now. I wanna make that omelet with the oysters but also with a sauteed mushroom/garlic/onion mixture too and then end it all cuz there's nothing to live for after that.

Honestly, I alomst feel like the umami from the mushroon/garlic.onion might over-complicate it a bit...but then again, I thought the while thing was insane anyway, so what do I know.

That sauce was 4:1 confectioner's sugar to tabasco.
