Intervals - Instrumental Progressive / Djent

Hey guys!

Who here has heard of Intervals? I've been in love with this band since I discovered A Voice Within on Spotify last year! Love the band's stuff.

Anyway Aaron (The driving force behind the band) and company are putting out a new record, The Shape of Colour, in less than a month. They're going back to their roots again dropping the vocals from their record and going instrumental. I'm not too sure how I feel about that because I did really enjoy the singer on the last album, but I am impressed with the first single from the new record, I'm Awake. IMO these guys are so much more interesting with vocals, so I was pretty disappointed when I realised they were taking a step backwards and going instrumentral again. I'll check it out for sure, but I'm not expecting it to be all that exciting.

I have to agree that they're more of an interesting band with vocals, but I really like Aaron's guitar playing and composing, so hopefully that can make up for the lack of vocalist. I did really enjoy I'm Awake so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yea I heard it, pretty good stuff, though I doubt it will beat In Time, which is my favorite EP/album. I've always enjoyed their instrumentals more than the ones with the singer btw.

Gotcha. Personally I couldn't get into In Time that much in comparison to AVW. But its still really killer! I'm digging this one though.

Just picked up the new album and I really like it. I highly recommend this for any petrucci fan. Its got that kind of vibe, but with its own flavor.

BUMP - new record is out today, just listened through a couple times. It is very much a continuation of the styles of The Shape of Colour. Very similar vibe. The first track "Touch and Go" is absolutely fantastic and probably my favorite at the moment.
