I'm shocked that nobody else here thinks she looks like the Child Empress, or even remembers that movie.. Well, at least it'll always be in my heart.

I still have nightmares from seeing Atreyu's horse dying in the swamps. Childhood scars.
I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

The child empress has a really cute look about her. Arabelle looks like she would scare Al Sharpton white.

I'm thinking she looks modeled after a young Fionulla Flanagan.

That was indeed a really sad moment T_T The brilliance of the rest of the movie saves it though.

If I had nightmares about anything in that movie, it was the Nothing. :( Such a destructive force.

I, for one, always really liked The Neverending Story - it was some of the most creative storytelling I'd ever saw/read.

With all of the teaser art provided so far, I have noticed that the characters are all, shall we say, fair haired and fair skinned.

So far.

Yeah, I've noticed.

Not sure if this has been mentioned lately, and being reminded by the best lyricist topic, but does anyone reckon we'll see more lyric contribution this time from Labrie? And hopefully Myung comes back again? Given that there are 34 tracks, I was hoping to see a few more Myung/Labrie lyrics this time.

I think someone mentioned the TA lyrics were completely written by Petrucci. Not 100% sure.

That is somewhat speculation based on the fact that Petrucci is credited with the story.  That doesn't necessarily mean he wrote all of the lyrics, but he may have.

True.  I hope others contributed, such as in SFAM whereby others interpreted JP's storyline and direction.

As bosk said, no one knows for sure. However, JP penned the entire storyline, map, characters, etc., and came up with the idea on his own. He took a solid year to create this concept, according to his Rolling Stones interview. It's my guess that he also to sole responsibility of the lyrics, with possibly some input from the rest of the guys. But the bulk of the lyrics were on him, with just some tweaks here and ther.

So... What are the chances of a second song being released, like they did with TGOM before The Astonishing is in our hands?

I would like to hear a song from the POV of The Great Northern Empire.

But that has been discussed in this thread already, hasn't it?

But seriously yes I think there is a good chance... I'm of two minds though. Not sure if I want to hear another note until the disc arrives.

Following the same schedule as last time, we can expect single number two the first or second week in January.

I think we will see another single, my best guess is it'll be in mid-january to provide a final boost for the album.

I think we got Along for the Ride 2 weeks before the release of DT12 so I think it'll be something like that if we get another single.

So I did remember correctly..

And I agree with you, I'm completely fine with just this one song. But I wouldn't mind another taste either.

The press release stated that the band doesn't consider TGOM to be a single. Given the two video placeholders, we could get two full fledged singles with music videos before release (or two behind the scenes videos).
Either way, the band thought it important to state that TGOM is not a single.
