I didn't buy any tickets for any show for the same reason as a few others, but all this talk about "you do not want to miss this" has me doubting. Dammit that a super expensive DT show comes along right when I really don't have the money for that.

Crisis averted - the interview and the tracks will air in january.

why delay an already-recorded interview's release to january

Just like albums are recorded and movies are filmed way before their release, the interviews are being contractually scheduled to be released when the band / the label wants interviews, reviews and song snippets to be released. Maybe by the time they want the interviews out they can't do interviews to be released the day after 'cause they're already busy with rehearsals.

[on fb]

Guy: "When is this show going to be on Tom?"

Tom Russell: "They've asked me to hold the interview till the album is released in January"

@Bosk - Speaking of those video chats, which were really great, any hope of another one in the future? They had a lighthearted feel that reminded me of the DVD commentaries that they sadly no longer do.

Funny you should ask.  I have been thinking about that lately and would really like to.  But there are some logistical difficulties that I do not think will allow it this time around.  I am talking to folks to see whether or not it can happen, and I personally would like to see it happen, but I am thinking it probably won't work this time around.  We'll see.  If not, I have some other ideas I am working on as well.

Thanks for the information! I'm looking forward to whatever might happen :)

I'm not specifically aware of what he may be able to play on his show in terms of interviews or music.  But it is my understanding that some music from it will be available before too long, just as they have made music from other albums available prior to release.  I really cannot say more than that.
You could, but I understand there would almost be some quite severe repercussions for you.

Very interesting, though. I'm very much looking forward to hearing some music from the new album soon.

Trust me. You do not want to miss this.

Believe me. I don't want to miss this. But it seems I am going to because they don't have any shows near me (BG).

WHY 6 EYES?

It has to be a guest. Mostly sure a keyboard player for this kind of adventure. I'm wondering if those tweets between James & Kevin have something to do with this...

I think I would explode with excitement if this was a collaboration with Kevin Moore....but I highly doubt that :(

It seems only two of the eyes "match" each other. The other 4 seem to be eyes from different people.

I highly doubt Kevin Moore would participate in a retro-futuristic-2112-Oblivion-dystopian progressive metal concept album these days.  :lol

The idea of the band reuniting with Kevin Moore being wishful thinking at best notwithstanding, what tweets were these?

They tweeted each other some time ago, normal "Hey 'sup dude next time you're in my area give me a call".

No way this translates into Kevin Moore playing on the new DT album, which was well underway by the time of those courtesy messages between two former band mates.

Make fun all you want, but I happen to know that a certain past or current member of a certain band that a certain fan forum is named after still currently uses an AOL email address.  ;)

It's track 34, called "The."
Yeah, I have no idea what the cakeless person in that analogy is meant to be eating. If he's got some sort of cake substitute, it should really have been worked into the narrative at some point. As it stands, the options are:

  • Hoard a cake just to stare blankly into its doughy edifice.
  • Make futile chewing motions with your mouth while starving to death.

I know we can't insert logic into this but I'm gonna go ahead and say it's gonna be 2 CDs and 40 to 50% -if not more- of these tracks are going to be short spoken word over atmospheric keyboards to advance the story line or maybe actual dialogue, but let's leave logic out of this and still discuss the possibility that these are all songs. /buzzkill
I made the dumb mistake of checking out the tracklist even though I knew it was a concept album with a story line, there's a couple of track titles towards the end that spoils the ending of the story.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.

Question:

Is anyone else here planning on not hearing any snippet/single/whatsoever before the actual release?

With DT12, I had only heard TEI once beforeI got to listen to the whole album.
But I think this time I would be more harsh with myself, and make sure the first time I hear any of this album will be it's whole.
