AWWWW YEAH, Nafaryus gets his own track!!!

I'm a bit late to the party, but this was my first thought when I saw the titles.

I can only hope "Lord Nafaryus" is an instrumental...

I really hope it's not, it would be a waste. Can't wait to see what the band has come up with on this song, preferably with the lyrics. :lol

Oh, and I guess the man's name can also rhyme with hilarious.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Lord Nafaryus. He's Hilarious. Born under the sign of Aquarius.

Something funny going on.

Hilarious Nafaryus.

Something fishy going on.

Aquarius Nafaryus.

Lord Nafaryus,
your deeds are precarious,
Lord Nafaryus,
you were born an Aquarius. Aquarius, Aquarius!!

Perhaps you should ask bosk to reverse the "e" and "a" in the second half of your user name.

Which was the last album where we got a good solid In The Studio DVD ?

Was it Systematic Chaos in 2007 ?

Because we're well overdue another one and this album is crying out for it. :beg:

I don't think Lord Nafaryus will be an instrumental, but maybe the character won't be mentioned in the lyrics. Or it won't be at the end of the lyrics so it won't have to rhyme  :D

We'll know in due time, I'm sure we're in for something tasteful and captivating and not cringeworthy  :hat

Definitely has the chance of being some epic milestone praised for the rest of their fans' lives or the release that fans pretend never happened.  If the latter, they will say "this was all Mangini.  This is why we didn't let him write on 11 & 12 !!!"  And then the path will divide with the return of Lord Nafaryus (sp?), I mean Mike Portnoy coming back into the fold.

And this is why I really try not to pay too much attention to pre-release news on albums for any band.

What if this whole thing was a front to throw us off from what the real album is gonna be? hahahaha

Totally kidding obviously, but that would be pretty epic.

I can only hope "Lord Nafaryus" is an instrumental...

Also - "The Hovering Sourjon" - what sort of a title is that??

And I can only assume "Three Days" is a cover of the Jane's Addiction song... (That would be so kewl!)  :hat

Maybe Sourjon is the name of another Character.. like nafaryus and Arhyse.. it sounds like a Surgeon,  maybe the one who makes the implants.  :corn

edit: keep thinking of it..  why would a person be hovering.. and why is there a Nomac next to the name... maybe it's like a next generation Nomac much more advanced than the previous one designed to kill the savior and any rebel.. introducing him there is a good way to end the first act...

Sojourn is a legit word though.

Cheesy or not they have taken a huge risk and diverted completely from the usual lyrics about personal experiences and such (Minus SC)., however this turns out I admire the boldness of the band for doing this. They have cemented their name in Prog metal history and want to try and push the boundaries once again, this is awesome... Got my London ticket now so can't wait... If they're playing the whole album and nothing else I sure hope it's epic! I do think they had to mix things up this time though before things got potentially stale.

Yup. All the talk on this board about them just going through the motions and then they do this.

Makes you think that ADTOE & DT12 were deliberately safe and familiar just so they could get Mangini comfortable with the band first.

I'm thinking that they could have started planning this on the Adtoe tour. Kept planning it while recording and touring for DT12.
Somthing ambitious like this feels like it should take a long time.

I'm having trouble understanding how, in the future, the English language will regress back to medieval-speak where heroes are honored in the town square and leaders are 'Lords', yet bed and breakfasts float in midair/or somebody's undecided on whether or not to stay in Rome... this is confusing

If the album is played with lutes and fifes, I won't be surprised.

I think it would have been too much to do a Double Concept Album as Mangini's first album and their first album after Portnoy left.

It might have smacked of desperation.

You may be right about the early planning. In that infamous LaBrie and Petrucci laughing video - ( I think it's that video ) - they mention discussing doing another concept album " at some point ".

*he

And, btw/to be clear, while he thinks the lengths give more info about the songs' nature, I don't.. Knowing the band, according the titles we can make predictions like the one MirrorMask did, with which I mostly agree, and thus having good chances to guess correctly than only according to the track lengths..

A 7 minute song doesn't say anything about its style or type of song (at least not a DT song), whereas that a name like "Dystopian Overture" it's clearly implying something.. That is an overture, and also sounds like an instrumental.. I'd say that even the place a track is in (when we know its title, obviously) give us more clues about the style than its length..
