Looks like tour dates. I clicked on the link in yesterdays announcement of the announcement and it took me to tour dates on DTs website.

If it's the announcement of a US tour (which judging by the event and lack of an official announcement, it probably is), that would be three times that info has unintentionally leaked before an official announcement from this album cycle (The name of the album, Arhys' portrait, and this).

I was just thinking along the lines of: Bethesda Studios announces that during the past 2 years they have been collaborating with John Petrucci in making a total conversion project for Skyrim set in the world of "The Astonishing."

At this point, the sky is the limit. Anyways, I'll be patiently waiting for the Seattle dates :)

I've often seen bands say there's going to be an announcement, and then it turns out to be tour dates. I suppose to those in NA who want to go and see them live, it is something to get excited about.

Maybe not a huge surprise, but one of the dates has it as "Dream theater presents 'The Astonishing'", which would imply NA is also getting the full album.

Anyone else have a fear that it won't be good news?? Like maybe a band member is leaving? I don't know why this thought occurred to me, but it could be that Jordan is leaving the band after this tour....

I don't think they would do it in this format if Jordan was leaving and the band would be with him. It is definately not related to a band member leaving. They would never do that at the start of an album cycle too

Just for kicks, looked at the ticket prices in Albany NY and man are they cheap.  26.75 - 56.75.  I tried to see how many the theater holds, but could not find.

Like someone else pointed out, it looks like they are going for the theater setting. 

Yesterday, someone posted a pic of a theater in St. Louis and it was beautiful.  I would make that drive from Nashville, Tennessee.

I just don't see how tour dates by themselves are worth a video live stream annnouncement.

It should. I was able to pull up their page without signing in, so you should be able to do the same.

I imagine it'll be some exterior link posted on their FB.
