train i recommend that you start having better taste

also sent

Tyrias

I'm pretty happy with that score. I think I'll just continue my strategy of sending stuff nobody else would probably send you (or that's at least not "classic" DTF-style), even though it's going to blow up in my face sometime. It's just a lot more interesting getting stuff outside of one's comfort zone as a roulette host (at least I thought that during my roulette).
I might come back to the melodic-dubstep thing in a later round, but most of my really good submission options were from Azedia, and then I went with something from them that was not dubstepp-y at all :lol.

Anyway, sent some electro-swing.

If you promise me I won't receive any more Lemmy Kilmister. :lol

@Tyrias, it sure keeps things interesting.

see, Evermind?  :P

I've seen this top three in this order before.... :neverusethis:

holy christ i get it  :rollin

and yay, better than Tom's roulette, i'm happy
i had to go check which Anathema album that was off of because their latest three tend to blur in my mind a lot, but Thin Air is a good song yes. WHBWH iis definitely my favorite of the three recent albums
I still need to get Bilateral, :soon:

Evermind

Pretty satisfied with my 8.5 - hey, I outplayed Parama with The Road of Bones once again. Happy times. :lol

I wanted to send something from Anathema for the happy round. Damn. Kamelot also was on my radar, but I guess I can't blame 425 for sending it since I kinda introducted them to him and used many superlatives in process. :lol I guess I can strike PoS from my list too.

Will take a stab on a happy song in an hour or two.

Had to go check out WHBWH after Thin Air, though honestly, Thin Air was by far the best choice, Angels Walk Among Us is probably my #2 choice, but that might be because it sounds most similar to Thin Air out of all of them. Overall a good album, but especially the kind of relaxing music I'll play in the background while working on stuff. Bilateral and Bilo 3.0 are on my radar aswell, will check them out sooner or later.

You wouldn't be the first one to submit an Anathema song for round 2 Evermind :lol

Evermind

I would've probably sent Untouchable Pt. 1 from Weather Systems. I don't like We're Here Because We're Here that much anyway.

Sent the folk rock song I've never sent in roulettes before.

Well if two people were about to send me the exact same song I think it's time I should check it out. ;D

Sacul

Hell yeah :metal

Damn you Seneca for sending Anathema - no shame losing half a point to that song tho  :hefdaddy

Also, dunno what's up with that psychedelic background on the video, but I swear the album artwork is way better :lol

425

Alright, I'll take an 8, that's a solid score! Still working on what I'm going to send next, I'll try and get that in tonight.

Yeah... I kind of couldn't not send it. The Black Halo has been my soundtrack for the past couple of weeks and March of Mephisto my anthem. It's gotten to the point where I think people are weirded out by the fact that I'm absentmindedly singing in Latin.

Yeah, I tried to send this exact song.... What if my music library just turns entirely into Evermind's music library?

Crow

The Black Halo was on my potential entries list, but not high on the list, so I'm not complaining about that option being closed off  :lol
I got 425 into that album in the first place so I can at least feel good about that  :hat

LordCost

Pain Of Salvation, Leprous and Anathema already banned :(
Anathema in particular would have been perfect for the next round, now I don't know what to send.
I sent an unknown song by Creed off their best album, maybe there was a better song of them to send (maybe Torn) and I have to avoid to be too original the next rounds, but still a 7.5 is a good start!

:lol Yes, I was actually going to say, you're the one who sent me Memento Mori. Which is fantastic.  :heart

splent

Oh, so now you decide to post a list of your favorite bands that do instrumentals.  :sadpanda:

Train of Naught

Well I don't really listen to a lot of fully instrumental bands, Pomegranate Tiger and Intervals being the exceptions (Intervals even has a singer in their newer stuff I think), aswell as one or two AAL and CHON songs, but I kinda left the option open to do an instrumental round, which I'll probably end up not doing, because I want to create competition through rating your best possible submissions, without setting too much boundaries on what you can and cannot send. I'm aware that this round kinda does that, but I'm more interested in 12 uplifting/happy songs than 12 instrumentals at once.

Which brings me to my next point which is kinda for the same purpose, I don't want the roulette to be revolving around a solely technical approach of saving certain artists or songs for a potential themed round which you're not even sure of, so at the very least, here's all the rounds that have a theme, shouldn't be too much of a mystery to figure them out:

Come To Life - Round 5
Goliath - Round 6
The Root Of All Evil - Round 8
This Is The End - Round 10

Shadow Ninja 2.0

i utilize literally zero strategy in sending my songs. i dont even think about it until its time to send, and then i think about it for 10 seconds and send whatever i think of first.

Crow

???, epic round, dark round, closer round
ok

also that really explains shadow ninja's submissions a lot tbh

It only takes you 10 seconds to forget what you've sent too

Just sent a song from the genre that I'm calling "random songs that 425 really loves but that nobody else cares about"!

I almost certainly will send them regardless of whether you encourage me! :lol

But don't get too excited. I don't think the reason nobody else cares about the songs is because other people think they're weird. It's because other people think, "there's nothing special about this song," while I really love it for whatever reason.

Sacul

Oh trust me, lots of people would say the same about some of my all-time favorites :lol

Fair enough. Well, you can expect me to bombard you with a few random songs that only I seem to love.

Train of Naught

If it wasn't for the originality, it would still be so damn happy and energetic, but this has it all.

Which pretty much makes me forget everything that happened before, because it does barely stand out

I'm in dire straits here, because the singer sounds pretty torn between happy and sad

It's still not a definite standout or anything, but that's not what the song is going for anyway

The intro is very good, builds up into this burst of happiness

One of those plain fun songs, that just gets you in that happy mood right away

I'm of course talking about that breakdown, it's the heaviest thing I've gotten this whole round, and it's strangely fitting

I'm undoubtedly a fan of the upbeat sound, which continues to be great for the entire song

This wasn't quite the song I expected a guitar solo to be included, but it works

That bridge however, feels kinda useless to me, but it's not too long so it doesn't really make a difference

One thing that kinda annoys me is that they have such a great, groovy guitar solo, and it almost gets buried under the other instruments

It really made me appreciate the way simplistic sounding music can be hard to craft properly

Overall I'm pretty happy with this round, I think the average scores are about the same as last round, maybe even a bit higher. Definitely didn't expect it because most of you were not really comfortable with an uplifting round. :P Scores will probably range from 6.5 to 9.5, with this round having my favorite song of the roulette.

I feel like this could, potentially, be mine, but I'm not sure. If so, I'd say that while I agree, the overall subject matter that he's singing about is not so torn.  :heart

Crow

considering what i sent i have no clue which of those blurbs is about mine. it's not one about it being energetic or heavy or anything, at the very least  :lol

splent

Several of those could be mine, but nothing stands out as mine.
