Welcome to the Train of Naught debut roulette!Hello and welcome, to the first Train of Naught roulette, I'm relatively new compared to most of you, but that only means you can get away easily with submissions that have been sent a million times, isn't that great? No?..
Basic RulesI don't know how many participants I'm going to have, I guess whoever comes first, expect around 10 people. For the roulette format, I'm going to have 10 rounds, and the top three participants will be showing off in a final round. I want to mix the roulette up a bit with some themed rounds, expect your standard themed rounds, maybe a few eccentric ones aswell, oh and like Parama, I will name the rounds after some of my favorite songs, so the clever participants can think ahead and maybe predict the round themes (by the way, I'm not going to place the standard themed rounds in the standard round number, or am i?

). My rating system will be the usual 1-10 score, I feel it's the best way.
By all means, make me try out new stuff, I haven't been too active on exploring new music apart from the prog scene, so it's your chance to wow me, of course trying out whacky stuff is appreciated and will be rewarded if succesfull.
Lastly, don't be the one to slow down the roulette by submitting one week too late! I'm a very punctual guy, so you can expect me to be on time every round, I hope I can expect the same from you

General tastes:Of course we all have one thing in common, Dream Theater, that's obvious, but pretty much all of the similar-ish bands I have either heard of and wasn't too fond of, or I already like and will probably be on the banned list.
-
Nu-Metal I grew up listening to these popular nu-metal bands that I now realize aren't all that, so don't bother with nu-metal (although I don't think anyone would've gone for it anyway).
-
Harsh vocals is usually a hit or miss, but I wouldn't go for all harsh, I like some mixed vocals with nice melodies at times, Protest the Hero is a good example, and if you really want to go all growls, make sure the instrumentation is top notch, cause it has worked in the past, but the chances are very slim.
-
Electronic, I don't really care for it, electronic parts in songs doesn't bother me, but dubstep or anything related won't get you anywhere.
-
Power Metal wins the cheese most of the times, often to a level where I can't stand it anymore, if you're thinking of power metal, make it as non-cheesy as possible.
-
Rock, straight up rock is something I'm getting more and more into over the past few years, so this is fine.
-
Vocals in general, this is huge, the vocalist is almost always what makes or breaks the song, as long as the instruments aren't god awful, I like me a singer with a very unique or just straight up amazing voice, especially when they use awesome vocal melodies in their songs.

I got bored of ranking all the artists so I just dumped the rest of them at the bottom of the list and will keep doing so. I'll do like a top 20/25 roulette songs at the end of the roulette.I'll explain how this works, you have the red list, which is completely off the table, some artists only have one or two banned albums, therefore I have heard absolutely nothing of the other albums and although it's more fun to send odd new stuff, the non-banned albums are available for submission.
The green list is for that individual you secretly have in every roulette, thinking "maybe I can score some easy points with this very popular and interesting song that the host apparently doesn't know for some reason", the artists on the green list are available for entries, but I know their vastly popular material, I'm not going to bother writing down every single song I know, but you get the gist.
(I'm going to complete my banned list during the intro week, before round 1 starts, because I'm sure I missed a few.)
SubmittingYoutube/Spotify is probably the easiest way for me, but sending me an mp3 file is fine too, as long as it's an audio quality I can work with. Whether you want to send it via e-mail or DTF PM, I don't care, I keep my inbox clean so you could go both ways. (marchebv@gmail.com)
On a final note, don't feel rushed, I'm going to let this roulette wait for a bit until there's enough people, and start off when the timing feels right.
