Kamelot – March of Mephisto (+,5) = 8,5
I knew I wanted to have this higher than 8/10 like 1 day after the results, great song, and a great beginning to The Black Halo.

splent

Scale the Summit - Stolas (+,5) = 7/10
Not necessarily a song I ended up enjoying more, but just one I think I didn't score according to my thoughts, 7/10 seems more accurate.

senecadawg2

Riverside – Discard Your Fear (+,5) = 7,5/10
Especially started enjoying how it goes from verses with such a haunting vibe to that uplifting chorus, 7,5/10 seemed like the right score.

Elite
Agent Fresco – See Hell (+,5) = 8/10
Great song, nothing in particular to note, just started to enjoy it more overall.

Tyrias
Susanne Sundfor – The Brothel (+,5) = 8,5/10
Beautiful voice, great atmosphere, definitely liked this better than the other 8/10 songs.

Parama
Pain of Salvation - Idioglossia (+1) = 8,5/10
I already kinda mentioned this in the thread, Idioglossia is great, but was pretty hard to get into, I realize that now.

This means we have new standings:

Evermind: 43
Elite: 43,5
425: 42,5
Senecadawg2: 42,5
Parama: 42
Tyrias: 42
Sacul: 41,5
Splent: 41
Bolsters: 41
LordCost: 39
mikemangioy: 39
Shadow Ninja 2.0: 35

:lol sorry Parama! But I'm very happy to get such a good score on that one of course... am I actually in the top three? I don't think I've ever been this far up in the standings before! I'm sure to blow it though as we get to the part where I run out of artists and start sending random songs.

And another bonus half of a point on March of Mephisto? Wow good things keep happening, you'd better start hating my submissions before things get too weird.

Anyway, sent Light of Day, Day of Darkness.

Based on your comments it seems I would have been better suited with one of his several dozen more stripped back songs (like the one Evermind got in his roulette). Oh well, I'm still within striking distance.

To answer your question, some of it is programmed but certainly not all of it. There are a couple synthetic stings and programmed beats thrown in for good (or bad) measure, but the essential piano, guitar and drums aren't. Maybe it wouldn't detract as much from the song if it hadn't been recorded in his bedroom on a shoestring budget but anyways, I get where you're coming from.

I'll try to send my epic by the end of the day

nice, glad for the extra half a point, that song sure deserves it. Also, can I send a 6:40 song for this round or is that too short?

No sorry, song length is really the only factor I can take into acount before hearing the actual song, I wrote down 7-8 as an absolute minimum, if I go below that, I'll continue to alter the boundaries more and more.
You can always send it next round, as that's an open round.

If they're meant to be together it would be a jerk move to deny it as Parama literally did just that in the last round, so I'll allow it. But please send me a file (or video w/e) that has the 2-3 songs put together like Parama did so I don't have to copy/paste or be bothered with changing songs constantly when I'm on shuffle.

Oh and I guess mikemangioy kinda had the same thing going on too with SW.

Re: Train of Naught Debut Roulette (Respect My Authority) - ROUND 3 LISTENING
« Reply #368 on: December 13, 2015, 02:50:07 PM »
You know you can view the PMs you sent, right? I always assumed people saying "I don't remember what I sent" were kidding, but I'm not so sure now.
Either you guys left the "Save a copy in my outbox" checkbox blank when you were sending your other PMs, or I'm just special like that.

But yeah you have sent.

It meant to say 25-30 at max, I'll fix that, 35 is too much though  :tdwn
I might dig a little deeper and weigh my options anyway.

You just don't know what you're turning down now. It's 35 minutes, but unlike, say, Kaleidoscope, this song will feel like it's 10 minutes long because it's so awesome. Chad will back me up on this, especially since it's his trademark epic song to send in roulettes.
I'm curious now...what is it? Just wondering if it's something I know or not.

And I like that 425's score is now 42.5.

listening to The Apologist again (a thing I just do a lot nowadays) and I'm not 100% convinced I shouldn't have sent the Whiskey Sipper/Underachiever combo

I worry about Underachiever though because it's inteeeense as hell (and amazing)
Whiskey Sipper might be the single best track on the album though, maybe, not 100% sure on that
basically you should make sure to check out the album

I sent the most obvious song anyone could possibly send. Here's hoping that ToN succumbs to peer pressure.

@Parama an 8.5 is pretty much a definite "will check outthe album", yea I was planning to anyway.

The hell I will (unless it's good which it probably is)

EDIT: updated green list with a single song I keep getting for this round because it's a fucking obvious one, I forgot to mention I already know it.

I have a few songs I can send, but I hate sending at Mondays (I usually hate everything at Mondays) and I want to give them another listen, so I'll send tomorrow, in the next 26 hours or so. Sorry for delaying this.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Yea don't worry tomorrow's fine. I already received 7 of the 12 songs which is crazy, as results were posted just over 24 hours ago.
Will start listening pretty much ASAP when I have everything, cuz this round will take a bit longer.

32 mins eh? For a second I thought it would be Cassandra Gemini (even though TMV is banned), but yea I can't imagine Evermind sending The Mars Volta. I'm still interested though. No one seemed to have a problem with it but Evermind already said he could easily send something else.

Not that I particularly want Evermind to succeed since I'm technically supposed to be competing against him, but if this is what I think it is, it's a really good song.
