I think the lasagne has taken care of that already.

My auntie had the fattest cat i'd ever seen. It was called Tarka and had one tooth. She literally filled up its bowl with food anytime it was empty.

 ;D ;D

*Edited to put WK's post on a new page cause it sucks when that happens ;D

I've been very lucky with our dogs and cat that they self regulate their eating, I just keep the bowls full. However our cat Lily sees the bottom of the bowl then there will be hell to pay.

I like those instagram vids where they put the bowl on the floor with like 2 or 3 tiny cat biscuits of dry food . . . and the animals face changes from  :D to  instantly.

We will most likely be putting our cat down this week.

Sir William of Kittington has been with us for about ten years and we believe he is somewhere around 16-18 years old. The most lovable, ornery, bad ass cat you’d have ever met, but Father Time has beckoned and it is time to say goodbye.

I still hurt about putting down my Harry.  His sister,  Sally from the same litter howls all the time 8 months later.

The most difficult part of being a pet-parent is making tough decisions around saying goodbye.

Sir William of Kittington sounds like one of the best furry friends.  I'm sure if he could he'd like to thank you for giving him the best life possible.   :heart

So sorry  :'(

Thanks for all the support. The hardest part is my 14 year old, who is by far and away Sir Williams best friend.

Sir William of Kittington sounds like one of the best furry friends greatest handles I've ever heard for a cat.

Fix'd.

Ski... I fee for you and your boy.  We had a scare with our cat around the time jingle.son was that age, and he balled and balled and balled while he held our cat.  Fortunately, it was a non-issue, and we did get 4 more years.

Condolences to the entire Ski family

Well, it’s been a few months since we lost Sir William of Kittington and today we brought home a new cat on a trial basis. Here he is after seeing the dog for the first time….

He was surrendered by the previous owner due to allergies. He’s 18 months old and during our initial visit at the shelter he was very mischievous. I won’t give out a name until we officially take him in but I think you’ll like what we have planned.

Beautiful markings on him.  He'll get that dog trained in no time.

I love it when people adopt non kitten cats.  (I love kittens so don't get me wrong.) Our boys were 12 weeks when we brought them home and I wouldn't change anything but next time - if there is one - I think I'm going to get an older cat.  It breaks my heart to hear someone had to surrender their cat for some reason.

Excellent!  We had to put down our Harry this year 6 weeks before his 17th birthday. His sister Sally is still doing well.  She is my beautiful little love bug.

We have two kitties, Sarena and Sandie.  That's not how I would have chosen to spell their names, but that's how they're spelled on the paperwork we got from the animal shelter, so I consider those the "official" spellings.  Actually, Sandie is Pecan Sandie, but (that's dumb so) we just call her Sandie.

Sarena:

Sandie:

First night with the cat and he spent it in the basement under a chair. Seems overly concerned by the dog at the moment. Still getting used to the sounds of a new home.

Very cuddly though when he relaxes.

I'd maybe be concerned if the cat DIDN'T seem overly concerned about the dog.

How is your dog feeling about the new feline?

BTW, sweet fuzz balls Obert!

The dog could care less, she pretty much ignored our old cat so we kind of knew she wouldn’t be an issue.

Meet Lumos!

Me, the wife, and the kid are big Harry Potter geeks. When we started throwing out names my wife jokingly said Crookshanks, the pet cat of one of the main characters. I laughed it off, but on my way to work that day I began to think of names as well, and it occurred to me we’ve all been pretty down since putting down Sir William of Kittington in early November, so I tried to think of words relating to light. At this point I went back to my wife’s Harry Potter reference and remembered the spell to cast light was Lumos. I wasn’t sure the wife and kid would think I was serious, but they both smiled widely when I told them my thought process.

After four days he’s really come around and is fitting in great. He’s even made friends with the dog. He has a kitty cold but we have antibiotics and hopefully within the week it goes away. He’s sleeping on my lap as I type this so I’d say he has put his personal claim on us.

We have light again.
