Satriani Live in Montreux 1988
« on: September 11, 2015, 09:08:15 AM »
Unbelievable one hour set from Satriani, when he still had hair.  Just him, Stu Hamm, and Jonathan Mover.  A must watch for any Satch fan.

Good stuff. I saw him with hair a year or two later on the FIABD tour and it was top notch.   I remember a fairly spectacular "country bass" solo by Stu Hamm being a highlight , which is one of the very few times I found a bass solo memorable  :lol

The 4 minute bass solo here includes that.  So good.

Yep.  His Kings of Sleep album has some really excellent stuff on it and is still one of my favorites.

if memory serves correct that features another very under rated player in Harry Cody of Shotgun Messiah.

Love me some Satch.  I will try to catch some of this later on.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Stu Hamm is phenomenal.

He came to do a clinic at our music degree and I have to say he didn't sound very good. Maybe he was wasted.

I will say that as good as he is, a lot of his stuff requires deadly precision, so if he's not being careful, it's very easy to screw up.

I purchased the SWTA remaster just for this DVD that came with it. It's fantastic.

Fucking LOVE this show. Woulda been nice to see Ice 9 replaced with The Snake but virtually everything else was great and Memories was beyond awesome.

Thanks! Gonna check it out when I get home. I have every Satch dvd since Live in San Francisco (so good too), but I never watched a full Satch-with-hair set.

Stu Hamm is phenomenal.

He sure as hell is.

Just saw his band for the first time ever a few months back and he signed every one of his CDs I brought with me.  I wish he would do shows around here more often. He was even better than  expected and I was expecting a lot.
