Your mom.

What the fuck sort of response is that dude?

Sorry. I was a little punchy... New job and no sleep. I slept last night and am still exhausted. But at least I'm functional.

Who would you like to be the next 'absent' DTF member to 'return'?

Staveoffzombies,  although we talk on Facebook quite often so it's not completely necessary.

Um.... How about porgger? He can't spell.  :omg:

Would you rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or 1 horse-sized duck? Why?

I know that you talk about (american) football.

I wanted Splent to settle the matter if it's soccer or football (or hand-egg) once and for all, because he seems to know some shit  ;D

What are your thoughts on Europe's refugee concern?

I think that's pretty sad that it took a Syrian toddler drowning to finally bring this crisis to light. Seeing that image always makes me cringe, not because of the morbitiy, but because of the reality that if I were there that very well could have been my daughter. I'm happy that some of Europe are embracing these refugees but some others are being so cruel to them they make Donald trump look like a saint.
That's better of an answer than I had expected, totally agreed.

So, five years later (or whenever it was you decided that becoming a teacher was a good idea), were you right?

I love what I do. However it's getting harder to say that every year. I hate the politics involved. I think it's ruining not only the education system but also the main reason for the mass increase of teacher burnout.

Totally man, I remember reading about you becoming a music teacher when I was thinking about becoming one myself. I've done the conservatory, and have been teaching high school kids for 4 years now. How time flies. Welcome back, for now! (Not that you'll remember me I'm sure)

Like many teachers, I became pretty disillusioned after a while, and it certainly didn't help that I had a growing family and teachers don't get paid for shit.  I still miss it, I miss the kids, the challenge, and just the knowledge that what I was doing made a real difference.  But administrators are assholes in general, and as a programmer I'm making three times what I made as a teacher, so I try to tell myself that I made the right decision to leave the profession.

You still love what you do, and that's the key.  I loved teaching, and would still do it if it were not for the combination of asshole administrators and shitty pay.  It just wasn't worth it.  If they paid better, I would put up with the shit; if there wasn't so much shit, I could live with the lousy pay.  But putting up with both was killing me.

Well yeah exactly that. I'm fortunate enough to have a school that focusses on music, and art in general. There's a lot of money to spend, things to organize and everything, but then again, that means that you spend a lot of time organizing everything, for which you (you've guessed it) you don't get paid extra.
Well anyway, I'm happy for now, I don't think this is my end goal or final station in terms of professions, but I'm still young. Still waiting to become world famous, but I don't see many vacancies for that  ;)

What is your deepest fear?
What is on your bucket list?
How many states have you been... inside of?

1. Dying, and realizing that i am dying (i.e. being buried alive, drowning, falling from a tall height

2. A lot involves travel to Europe... Germany, Austria, especially, to see birthplaces of my favorite composers.

3. California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvaina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin

Believe me, if I go through what I have gone through much more, I'm going to seriously think about changing my career direction. While my new position is very difficult and involves an extensive commute, I am getting paid for my experience, something that I haven't experienced in several years, meaning I'm getting paid more. I also got hired to direct a community choir (asst. director) so even though I'm teaching elementary, I am getting my choir fix. Hopefully this will be stable, and hopefully it will help me get a job closer to where I live next year (or that I get a much more stable teaching gig next year, right now I'm between 4 schools)

who will survive the return of cthulhu?

I guess we have to wait and see... I plan on moving to Xanadu before that

We will see. I've always wanted to visit

I'd go to 1928 and blast Overture 1928 before anything. And then maybe go to November 5, 1955. But then after that, who knows :lol problem is things could get awkward
