That's the main issue.  So much good stuff I have, but 95% of it he knows or has heard.  Finding quality that he doesn't even have listed in his spreadsheet is tough.

I'm probably not even remotely close, but I've got a guess as to the identity of Mystery Machine. sneakyblueberry?

It'd be cool if Mystery Machine would occasionally send messages for the thread through you Chad, so he/she can participate to some extent.

You admittedly have 2000+ albums in your collection. That leaves you 100 albums to chose from. I think you'll be fine.

Ok... so here's the lay of the land.  Everyone is in except Zook (who hasn't posted here yet, but I did invite over PM), and Mystery Machine.  I've got a busy weekend ahead of me, so I likely won't start until Monday.

Assuming Zook submits, I've got 18 players.  I have one other invite out to Milena over FB since her inbox here is full, so maybe 19.  I don't see getting 8 crap songs out of this group, so it's going to be two qualification rounds.  4 or so people eliminated in each to get down to 10 players.

From what I have so far... 10 bands I've never heard of before, and of the 6 that I have, I know a bit of 2 of them, and one is a recycle from one of the submissions from my first roulette (which didn't score that well actually - let's see if go around #2 is better with this band).  Also, I gave three warnings about bands that I've tried but didn't like or "get" in the past - all resulted in a resubmission.

Yeah, so much this.

I think I'm among those who sent the band he never heard of though, and I'll be fairly surprised if I don't make it to the second qualification round. I mean, my song might not be the best here, but I doubt it will be among four worst songs. I guess everything is possible though.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Easy there big fella!  Just cuz it's Monday already for you don't mean it is for me.

I just got back from my Sunday road trip about 90 minutes ago, and I'm gonna try to listen thru whilst doing the DTF Fantasy Football draft.

I did mange to fit in one listen on Friday - I got home from my day out sooner than expected.  Lots of excellent music, but very little that wow'd me on first listen.  I guess I always use Epysode/Obsessions as my benchmark of being "wow'd" - though everyone should realize that is an impossibly high standard to compare to.  Also, if I had to guess, I think I might be pulling out 2 of these:

Only one listen in though.  I'll get a full dedicated one in tomorrow for certain.  Tuesday is an open day as well, so by Wednesday I should have 4-5 listens in.  At that pace, results could be as early as Wednesday night.

That's cool man, I just felt like bumping the thread.

Keep in mind, I think people might think like myself and even though everyone wants to send a killer song to qualify, you don't want to blow your load early before the actual scoring rounds begin.

I hear ya (on both topics) - I was gonna bump this tonight too.  And saving those good songs for later can be risky - especially for those that don't make it to the dance.  It's a tough call how to play it.

That's definitely my thought too, but mate, I'm struggling to find real high quality that you don't know, but would appreciate.  I got a lot of good stuff, just want it to be top notch, but probably just gonna have to throw a few random ones in there and hope for the best.

Which part of "results could be as early as Wednesday night" did you not get?  The "Wednesday", or the "night"?

I have the opposite problem - trying to cut down my list of "possibles".   To some extent I would like to be able to say I don't have much rather than "I know that I have a whole load of stuff that the host will love and I did a terrible job of picking the right songs/bands".   :-\

Save some awesome stuff for me too Kade  :lol
