Could we do on OP update to see who is actually in (as in, people that have sent their songs)?

No... OP is already filled with too much awesome.   ;D

On participants - back a page.  2nd post on page 2.

On who's submitted - when I'm back home on the weekend, I'll be able to start keeping track - I think I've got most, but not all.

On prematurity... well, I've never been accused of having any maturity, so I figured "pre" was the best place to start.  Given travel and being tied up for the long weekend, I wasn't going to have a chance at home to start the OP, so I did so early... giving people lots of time, and thus we could start as soon as you wrapped up yours Tim.  You were a little quick on the draw with final results though.  A recurring problem for you??

I'll be open with everyone - growls are hit and miss for me.  That Scar Symmetry song you sent in my first roulette was great, but I didn't find the growls worked.  Growls in Ayreon albums work for me, but Akerfeldt/Opeth doesn't float my boat.  Rage of Despair on Flaming Row's Elinoire is growl heavy, but it works for me, and my 2nd (a very close 2nd) favorite song on the album.

Unfortunately, no hard and fast rule on growls for this chochise.

Yes they are.  But he's in moderation with Ayreon; not so moderated from what I've heard with Opeth.

I was just thinking tonight "did Hath sign up?"  Low and behold, there's your PM. I was about to email you asking what the fuck?

Glad you're here.

I bombed out in the final last time, putting too much pressure on myself.

You're suffering from jingle.boyitis. Just send something awesome man!  Thinking too much gets ya into trouble.

As a wise man once told me the only thing worse than sending a song you love and getting a dodgy score is sending a song you don't love and getting a dodgy score  ;D

Just make sure every band you send has "death" in their name and you'll do fine Kade.

Quick request.  Unless you don't want me to have your email address, please send messages to me there - see OP... chadrbelcher at the gmail.  That inbox can't get full (I'm currently 84% full here, and don't want to delete the things that I have saved).  Plus, with my travel schedule, I can respond far quicker there than I can from PMs here.

Listening may commence Sunday if I have everyone, but Monday for sure.  Get your songs in.

Sent some good progressive metal from a relatively unknown band. Should be enough to get into the next round.

I suck at this elimination thing (one dud and you're out), so I really prefer it to be one elimination round. Seeing how we got 16 participants already though, I guess that may not be the case. :lol
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

I pissed the last one, I bet everything on the last round to make it interesting. Not as confident this time. Making the first round proper will be an achievement .

Kind of this. I just dislike elimination-based roulettes - I do always expect players to send their best stuff, even if they have a few duds here and there. Like, had I eliminated Chad in the first rounds, I wouldn't have gotten that great Boston album. But anyways, will try to see how much I can survive here :lol

That's because you only have few unknown progressive metal songs in your arsenal and after that you start sending djent, hiphop made entirely of recorded samples and whatnot. :lol

Maybe some of you guys should have better tastes listen to things outside prog at times  . By the way, I'm curious if you've listened to the Swans album you got from me in your roulette.

Listen here youngling, us fogey's have put in our time exploring in and outside of a bunch of different genres.  Allow me to re-highlight a section of the OP, just for you...

Worth repeating from my first roulettes:
Quote from: jingle.boy
I'm not doing this to explore new genre's of music, so don't expect to get much love from death metal, electronica or any genre requiring "post" or "core" in its name.

At the rate we're posting in this roulette it will probably get archived due to it's size before it finishes  :lol

Surely not possible... but I'm up for the task.

I'm at SFO at the moment leaving in about 30 minutes for the homestead, but had to post a very interesting email this morning...

Quote from: Mystery Machine gmail address
Finally, someone posts their email address in their roulette OP!  It's been a while since I've had the chance to play this way.  I last tried with Mason, but he never finishes anything.  I'm a fairly regular poster, and had this cool idea after Rich ran that Champions Roulette with a mystery judge - but no one posts their email address publicly (I guess it's understandable!).  So, if you don't mind, I'd like to play in yours. Just don't ask me to reveal who I am- it ain't gonna happen.  Milena wanted me to, but no way man.  I like being anonymous. You'll probably be able to rule out some people I might be.  My lack of typo's eliminates one member, haha.  I did create a user id on the forum, but those Nazi Admins locked my account - some stupid rule of not allowing duplicate accounts. So, I have to send over email, and can't exactly participate in the thread :lol

Let me know, and I will give you something before the holiday.

Ok, "Mystery Machine".  You're in.  I'm intrigued.  You've obviously been around here a while with that 'Nazi Admin' comment.

No shit! I didn't know that. I got a PM from Kris (from YBS) a couple months back after I pinged him about his absence. Maybe he's not only the mystery judge, but the mystery player too. Shifty.

Or too obvious. Not sure which.
