Finals.  After the seven rounds, the top 3 or 4 (depending on how close scores are) will send me no more than 30 minutes of music each, from as few or as many bands as they want. Don't ask for any buffer. I don't actually want 30 minutes, so that is your absolute max.  One second over, and I'm not listening to one of the songs.

My goal is for the finals to be the Top 3 - that's about 90 minutes of music.  However, if there ends up being a tie for the top 3, then we'll have more than three in the finals.  As it stands now, it'd be Kade, Brent and Hath.

Ruslan, Paul, Nellie... you got some work to do to make the finals; Tim still has some hope.

However, if anyone that doesn't formally make the finals still want to send me their 30 minutes of music, I'll happily accept - just don't know when I'll get around to listening to it.  Always happy to get exposure to more music.  The end of a roulette doesn't have to mean the end of sharing - as Tim knows full well.

I've sent my next song and I'm about as confident with it as I was with Paralydium Project. Hopefully it gets the same result and I'll make up the distance between Big Hath and I.

I'm looking forward to the revealing of those scores, they will be a much better indication of how much you did or did not like my songs than the rankings give.

Throughout the whole roulette, I've only had 9 songs I've ranked below a 70%, or a 7/10 - again, assuming a school 'grading' kind of scoring system.  There were only a couple I didn't really enjoy, but they weren't bad.  And of the others, it was more a case of some things were good, some things were not-so-good.

There's been a couple of high 8's, and only two 9s.  All in all, very consistent, and very enjoyable.

Oh, and I just got this in my inbox:

Yay!  I finally landed somewhere other than the top or bottom. Some good submissions that round - though what the hell is Bolsters thinking?  Well, at least it's keeping me from being last.

I think I'm in that same neighborhood with jj, just on the other side of the tracks from both of you.

How many more rounds are there? ;-)

Bolsters was thinking a couple rounds ago "I'm crapping out rather badly, I might as well just send risky shit for the remainder and see what manages to stick, I probably couldn't do any worse". Taylor Swift sure as hell wasn't part of the original plan either. :lol

I don't like to change my avatar too often, or at all really. But I can never just pick one thing and stick with it, eventually I get sick of what I'm using and have to change it. I chose Katy Perry last time because PRISM was my most played album of the last 12 months at the time on my Last.fm. So, this time I went with Taylor because 1989 now has that honour.

Mystery machine was going old school with Tangier. I have that album on vinyl. I used to enjoy playing guitar along to it back in the day.

I'm not sure if I should send to Chad (of all people) a song featuring Tolkki on bass, but it's a nice enough song and I may go with the tag-team option to reduce the damage it'll do to my score. :lol

Of course, my second song is a folky one, so I'm probably receiving 3 points at best anyway. This round will likely determine my chances of getting into the finals. Sending now.

Hmmm...there's not much he's played bass on that was any good to be honest, risky.  There's one album from last year that I enjoyed though that he is credited for the bass.

That ought to fuck with at least a couple of you for a few days.

I actually missed this. I'll probably do it, since I had a band picked out for the final at the beginning of the roulette anyway, and you'll only end up listening to them after I send a song to Brent.

Although it needs some work as my "30 minute EP" playlist is currently 80 minutes in length. :lol

Well, fuck you very much Google Drive.  Somehow, my active spreadsheet that I've been using to keep tabs on everything all of a sudden was last saved October 11th - despite my frequent use of CMD + S every time I add something new to any file.  So, I had to go back and recreate the scores and rankings for Rounds 4 and 5 all over again.  Plus, lost all the first impression comments I had for this round.

 :tdwn

Writeups this round might be a little shorter than normal due to the above, and the fact I'm just running out of shit to say.   :lol

But, some first impressions, now that I've had another listen tonight ....

upon a dedicate headphone listen, the guitars do sound like shit
nothing was truly spectacular, but it all came together very nicely
2nd half nearly melted my face off
What a fabulous outro
Holy shit does he sound like Roy Khan
Music was really good.  Vocally it didn't appeal to me
Most excellent.  Great blend of prog and power
Catchy chorus, despite being fairly predictable
That's a word salad - and take it from me, I know word salad
