The most epic thing I've seen all week
« on: February 11, 2016, 09:38:32 AM »
Maybe it's just that I was a casual fan at the time this was published, but I certainly don't recall JP ever looking like this:

That purple/blue hair... :omg: ;D

KILL IT WITH FIRE!
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

Ahh purple highlights Petrucci.. the best of all Petrucci's.
I wouldn't want somebody with 18 kids to mow my damn lawn, based on a longstanding bias I have against crazy fucks.

That was around the time they went out on tour with YES..   Don't know what kind of fashion statement he was trying to make at that time, but I'm glad he ditched it.

Hey I'm not a purple highlights/indoor sunglasses/ear rings/opened-button-up-shirt-with-chest-hair-showing kinda guy, but it's better than his current beard situation, his current beard supersedes everything in the "JP and bad new look decisions" diaries IMO.

I hear ya, at least JP keeps it tidy. If your out gigging, I think it's unprofessional if you are unkept.  JP on the other hand can get away with it and he still looks cool. I still think he looks better without the beard.. I wonder what the women on this forum think about that??  :lol

He kept it tidy up until a year or so ago, now I can't tell where it ends and his hair begins, it's like his face is leaving us and we need to do something to save it..

That beard is luring in metal guys to buy The Astonishing, maybe that's why they're pissed :lol

Best Guitar World issue ever. Dream Theater and Rush featured as the main articles. Vivian Campbell revisits the Dio days, this is gold!  Even Prong is in there. Plus transcription to Dark Eternal Night.

What's more impactful to me is how different he looks skinny, rather than all jacked up from weightlifting.
It's like he went from cocaine to steroids

My first DT concert was in August 2004 and JP was completely clean-shaven and wore dark shades the whole show. Must have been right around the time of this interview.

If he trimmed it just a little it would look cool. Now it looks somehow unnatural and weird :-\

This was during his bondage phase where he had all sorts of otherwise-pointless straps hanging off his Hot Topic pants.

Current JP would be right at home on Sons of Anarchy.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

How awkward would he look if he went back to the purple highlights/Bono sunglasses/pornstar shirt these days? With all the muscles and baldness going on.

Everything is immaterial. Do you know that reality is immaterial? This is not reality.
In what friggin' universe is a 68 minute long album "short"?
