NUGGETZ

So, we all know everything about Octavarium's nuggets. If you don't, and you're reading this, please go here and let your mind be blown away.

Today I've found another nugget:

Take The Time says "Close your eyes and find all you need in your mind", whilst Just Let Me Breathe Says "Just close your mind, you can find all you need with your eyes".
The first one indicates being creative and such, the second one is about selling out. MP was never an awesome lyricist, but this  was really neat, admittedly!

This lyrical connection has been known for as long as I can remember. Not new, but still a good one.

Count how many times do they use "Coming into view"
Please, tell me.

From a rough search, it looks like twice, three times if you count "comes into view".
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

After reading this, I felt like looking at mentions of open and closed eyes in Dream Theater songs. Here's the breakdown:

WDADU - "behind closed eyes" in Afterlife
IAW - "close your eyes" multiple times in Take the Time
Awake - "so open your eyes" in Scarred
FII - "open your eyes" in Just Let Me Breathe
SFAM - many references to both closed and open eyes
SDOIT - "Humility, opened my eyes" in The Glass Prison
TOT - Some mentions of eyes, but none specifying whether they are closed or open
8VM - "with both eyes open wide" in The Answer Lies Within, "eyes open" in Medicate section of Octavarium
SC - "close your eyes" in Forsaken
BC&SL - "close your eyes" in Wither
ADTOE - no mention of open or closed eyes, only borrowed eyes
DT12 - "open your eyes" and "if you open up your eyes" in Illumination Theory

After doing all this, I did not reach any conclusions, but I'm posting it anyway.
D - D/F# - G - D - Bm - Bm/A - E/G# - A

And yeah, the Comes/coming into view are all Portnoy Lyrics.

Is this thread only for Octavarium nuggets or even for other nuggets in their body of work?

What do you guys make of Dream Theater titling their angsty album as Awake, which is taken from the song Innocence Faded, which is some sort of JP taking a swipe on KM?

"Animation
breathes a cloudless mind
Fascination
leaves the doubting blind
Until the circle breaks and wisdom lies ahead
the faithful live Awake
the rest remain misled"

So KM is the "rest that remain misled," while the others are "the faithful" that "live Awake"?

I don't think that has anything to do with KM.

Isn't Awake a concept album about Spiderman? Caught in a weeeb.

Ok. I think I just connected it with the title and this bit in the DT wiki:

"Petrucci wrote the lyrics of "Innocence Faded", inspired by his deteriorating friendship with Moore. "The way I wrote lyrics a lot of the time is that I'll take an initial spark of an idea... But then I'll kind of generalize and add in other situations," Petrucci said. "So I couldn't say it was solely about that, but it was definitely inspired by that. There was a feeling of it not being the same way it had been, and the realization that things were not always going to remain the same.""

*shrugs*  I don't know.

I don't care, either, because it's an awesome song regardless of the inspiration.

Yeah, I tend to overanalyze lyrics. Hahaha.

Also, I've been trying to find out why they titled the album Awake, and I gained a different appreciation of the album when I interpreted Awake this way.
