I went back to work today after being out since last Monday. I honestly don't feel ready to be here but I'm trying to go as easy as possible.
The lesson I learned in having this surgery last week is this...
Its not how "you" think you should feel after 5 days recovery, its how your body tells you, it is.
I was getting frustrated and quite bummed because I was not bouncing back according how I felt I would.
I had it all planned out...
By Wednesday I'll be at this point...
On Friday I'll be here...
Nope. Your body tells you when its healed, not the other way around.

Yep, the older you get, the longer it takes to come back from any physical setback.  And that's true for everything from surgery to bumping your arm on something and getting a bruise.  Annoying as hell.

Not saying that a mere bruise is the same as having hernia surgery, but it's kinda the same concept.  I had an itch, I scratched it, no big deal, except my arm fucking hurt when I scratched it.  Why?  I look, and there's a bruise from when I bumped into a shelf three or four days ago.  I'm like What the hell?  How can it still hurt?  I bumped it four days ago!

  Good luck!  When I went to the ER (Twice) on the verge of a heart attack (twice) they did a stress test on me (YUP!!!...Twice) and couldn't find anything.  The Cardiologist KNEW something was amiss so she did the angiogram and found 4 blockages, the worst at 95% blocked.  3 stents in, and one was only like 55% and didn't qualify yet for a stent.  I was like...Really?  While your up there you can't put one in???

Things I don't like about getting older:

Makes more sense to start the handful on shampoo on the sides then work the remainder to the top.
Gravity having it's way with the boys
"towel trick" only executed properly on a good day
Additions to the "highlight reel" non existent

Things I'm liking about getting older:

Low T, every bad decision I ever made in life was because of high T  (ok I stole that one)
I'm starting to get a taste of that "older person who says whatever they want" thing, and I'm digging it

Heard on the radio that we start to get old at age 41... so I still got a little bit of time. Then it takes 16 years to complete the full transition to old.

Ramping up the walks to another speed.  The hills don't make me out of breath where I've been walking and I've upped the walking to 50 minutes.

Indeed. I'd do about 2 3/4 mile in 45-50 and enjoyed it. Unfortunately only about half of the year is good for that down here, and the area I liked to walk is a construction zone now. I never really noticed much of a health benefit, but found it good for the soul.

When you are out of shape it helps.  Once 4 miles is easy, I'll ramp up the speed and hills.

You would probably realize the benefit if you were to stop doing it. Its got benefits you don't really feel.

I stopped doing it a year or so ago. Like I said, my preferred walking space is a construction zone and the demographics have changed dramatically. No longer all that appealing. That said, there's a big difference between King and myself. From what I've seen it's likely to help him far more than it helped me.

I've got matching scars on both sides.
The crappy part of the recovery was not being able to put my own pants/socks on for a month.
Right through the abdominal wall they went for my second one.

Fun stuff. And my surgeon was a lumberjack on the side. He left quite the scar with his small hatchet he used.

That's what my family doctor said at the follow up appointment with her....she was shocked at how sloppy the scar looked.

Wonderful to hear. I mean, I appreciate her honesty but ... I had no idea WHAT a hernia scar should look like. It's been many years and it's still a big white arrow pointing to my penis

Yeah, the last time I went bowling, my wrist was jacked up for a couple of weeks.

Going golfing today with Dr. P. We're going to walk the course. I'm going to do an hour of stretches before we go.
