Ok so as some of you know, I had surgery to remove my gallbladder yesterday. Sitting at home, in pain, recuperating. The reason I bring this to the old thread is that per usual for a surgery like this they had me stop taking ibuprofen, naproxen, and aspirin a week before.

All I can tell you is I felt every single muscle and joint in my body for a week. Never realized how much of a crutch that shit was. Fuck I'm old.

I'm purely guessing, lonestar, but I'll bet you take those primarily for your hands. With your chosen profession it makes sense to me your hands, hips, knees, and ankles would probably be the most creaky. Yup, hands, elbows and shoulders. On top of age, I also have psoriatic arthritis. Medication helps, but yeah, the chosen profession does me no favors. I'm one promotion away from a position that's more a desk job, so here's to hard work.

When I was younger, we:
- brought our trash cans in that day, instead of leaving them for the middle of the week;
- put stuff back where we got it in the stores, instead of just dumping it on the nearest shelf;
- pulled all the way up to the front of the gas station, instead of stopping at the immediate pump and blocking the whole lane;
- had our order all set in the line at McDonald's instead of going up to the counter and beginning the decision-making process;
- didn't - immediately after the principal said "hold your applause until the end" - start "whoop whooping!" when your kid was called at the eight grade graduation;
- didn't have an eight grade graduation, we waited until the one that matters, high school;
- held up Bic lighters for nine seconds at concerts (because that's how long it took to burn your finger on the flame) instead of cameras for 45 minutes.

I could do this all day.

And the construction site recognitions , don't forget the mechanical engineers ( and the outsourced ones who have never even experienced heating or air conditioning ). And the electrical engineer ( online degree through an X-Box ) who thinks that FLA stands for fun -load-amps .

Is this the correct thread for asking about aging health-related questions? I've recently been diagnosed with a shoulder impingement and have begun PT. I've been in substantial pain since September. A few days ago, I nearly fell after getting my foot caught up in some electrical cords and in the process I flung my arms out reflexively to break my fall. The pain was excruciating to the point I almost passed out. My kid who witnessed it, said I turned white as a sheet. It took me a full 15 minutes to be able to do anything other than try to breathe.

But the very strange thing was is that it felt like my shoulder got "reset" like a bone being reduced back into alignment. I suddenly had much better range of motion and far less pain than I'd had in months. I was certainly very sore, but it was more like an ache after a hard work out than the pain I had been having. And even better, I was able to sleep again without waking every 10 minutes to try and move into a comfortable position.

I've never had shoulder issues before. Is it possible my shoulder joint was out of the socket all this time? My sports medicine doc didn't do any imaging when I went in, saying my symptoms were classic for impingement. I see my PT on Tuesday so I will certainly be talking to him about it. Currently I'm about 75% better in both pain and range of motion. I think I'm going to stick with PT to get my strength back and to avoid re-injury at least for the next month or so. I'm curious if any of you old farts have had similar experiences with shoulder issues?
