Big Hath: Snarky Puppy - Amour, t’es là

Why didn’t you send this on the happy round? True, I don’t really know if the lyrics are happy or not, since I don’t speak French. But even if they’re really sad you’d have gotten away with it, since, as you can tell, I didn’t look them up. Oh well, that’s in the past with the Alcest happy round submission, and this is now.

This fun, romantic (I feel like it’s romantic, though that might be because that’s how anything French sounds to me) little song is one of my favorite songs of the round. I like the instrumentation provided here. The horns and other instruments sound really good, and the drums really provide the song with a sense of motion. The singer is really good, her voice fits very well with the song, and the group vocals just add to the overall feel of the song, particularly on the very pretty chorus.

Ha! Color me shocked at my score.  It was an impulse entry for this round just hoping to "cleanse your musical palate" so to speak after the epic round.  I guess it worked!

First off, if you are checking out more from Snarky Puppy, keep in mind this is a mainly instrumental jazz/hip-hop group (although this song was from an album that had guest singers on each song).  Second, the singer (Magda Giannikou) is also playing accordion on this song, which is quite impressive given how well she does both.  She is extremely talented.

On the lyrics, it's kind of a longing and maybe a hopeful song more than anything I guess.  The title translates to "Love, are you there?".  She's dreaming of love and can't seem to find it, but remains hopeful that today is the day.
Winger would be better!

. . . and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.

Oh hell yes. I just kind of knew you'll like this one.

This score also makes me to rethink my full-blown-metal approach... Actually no, screw it, I'm going to send metal anyway.

I had weird problems with connection to DTF now (couldn't access it for two days and had to use proxy now to make it), so I'll send tomorrow after work. Hope that's alright.

Should be fine. I only have four submissions in at the moment anyway.

Sorry about all this, it seems that, for the most part, aside from Dream Theater and Iron Maiden, we are not a match. I will be getting Constantine's album, though, and I'll look more into Fates Warning and Iris Divine, so it's been far from a complete failure.

Alright then, I might take two days at best, seeing as now I kind of have the chance to actually win. :lol Want to dwell on the EP a bit longer. Maybe.

Well that's what it's all about.

I only joined after looking at your banned list and thinking that most of it is right up my alley.

I don't want MP playing with DT unless they were making a drummer change. If they let MM go and bring back MP, then fine, but no guest appearance please.

I've cut all the gaps and silent parts I could and still ended up with 30:04 because I want to squeeze another ballad here instead of the one I was planning to include before. Well, Parama got away with sending an hour long song, so what the hell, I'm listening the last time and sending my EP.  :lol

Too long, -1 point.

Nah, 4 seconds is no big deal. But don't anybody get any ideas and try going higher. Do your best to cut it to under 30 and if it's over by a margin of <10 seconds, who cares.

I cut stuff to get my EP to be exactly 30 minutes long which is easy when the last song has a minute of basically silence that I can easily cut a little off of yay

I will probably land on the last place this round. Went full-metal approach. :lol

My EP is atmospheric, with one ambient piece, two chamber folk songs, a techno tune, a prog ballad with flutes, and a pop hit.

But I will at least get 0.5 bonus points. That'... something?

yeah i'll get .5 bonus points and there's at least four songs that i'm sure you'll love tbh, the proggier ones are the ones where i'm worried i'll lose points

tho tbh neither of them are that proggy anyways and more focused on being big and powerful
