I'm curious, how much is a pizza on average in the states? Here they range from 4€ to 9€, with most being in the 5-7€ range.
Y'all treat a pizza as an individual meal and size it appropriately. We have big ass pizzas as a meal for several. So, a small pizza here is going to be in that price range. It's just more often that people will buy a couple of larges for about double that, each.

And something that puzzles me, why don't you guys slice pizza before serving it? It's kind of awkward eating an entire pie with a knife and fork.

edit: It's also the case that a pizza here is about twice as bulky as what you guys eat, so putting away one the size of what you posted is going to be challenging. I could eat the pie you posted a pic of, but imagine that with a thicker crust and twice as much toppings and you get your average American pizza (which would probably run $10 or so.

It's considered unpolite and generally childish. Among friends it's tolerated, but I never do it myself, mainly because if I slice it in eight parts it goes way too soon. I once (couple of months ago, actually) ate the last tiny slice remaining with my hands and got scolded for that by my mother.

This may be considered sacrilege, but...  I really enjoy Costco's pizza.  Yeah, it can't touch a high quality pie from a good mom & pop pizzeria that knows what they are doing.  But for a good quick slice of pepperoni hot out of the over, they just do it right.
It is sacrilege. Where do you live? The only good thing about that pizza is its dirt cheap and it fills your pie hole when your starving. Its like their hot dogs. They are not bad. Where else can you get a giant hot dog and refillable drink for $1.50. Its unreal! Please let me know if you are ever going to be in Connecticut and I will treat you to a great pizza!

I never heard of Connecticut pizza being something special.  Then again people don't talk about NJ pizza being anything good, but Im assuming Connecticut pizza is really a derivative of NYC (like NJ) and in which case is likely very good.  However, I have not found pizza that is as good as NYC.

Not even all of CT (though it is good), but New Haven specifically.

Checking in.

Half Italian (father): 25% Sicilian (grandfather), 25% Napolitano (grandmother)

Other half (mother):  25% German (grandmother from Hamburg, though her father is from somewhere near Katowice which is in Poland), 25% English/Irish whatever (grandfather)

I never identified with the Italian American culture even though I live and grew up in the NY City area.

It depends. If I went to my favorite Naples-style pizza joint (they actually import their ingredients and all) that size pizza you posted would be $10-20 depending on toppings. Expensive but goddamn delicious. A quality New York-style large pizza (which would feed 2-4 people depending on the group) is around $15.
Shit like Dominos is a lot cheaper, but that's not pizza. It's edible, but it's not real pizza.

BTW I look Italian but I'm pretty sure I'm not.

But still... this thread :heart
I just don't understand what they were trying to achieve with any part of the song, either individually or as a whole. You know what? It's the Platypus of Dream Theater songs. That bill doesn't go with that tail, or that strange little furry body, or those webbed feet, and oh god why does it have venomous spurs!? And then you find out it lays eggs too. The difference is that the Platypus is somehow functional despite being a crazy mishmash or leftover animal pieces

Yeah...I had a DNA study done. On my fathers side it's primarily Northern Europe and notably Scotland and the Nordic regions. Also on my fathers side, but throughh is moms lineage, I was surprisingly part of Haplogroup M-M-353 which only is shared by <0.1% of those ever analyzed. It traces back specifically to Fiji in particular and eventually through parts of SA and even Siberia before making its way into NA. Considering that my dads mom is 100% Cherokee, I think this is really fascinating.

This is all the Italian I got for you...

That's not fair, you're up with American slang while we can't figure out what new and hip slang's to use in German.
