I love the premise of Lucy.  I love the main character but the direction is poor at best.

I really like Luc Besson usually.

In other news - I looked up Aaron Eckhart's box office grosses and The Dark Knight has made over $1bn and his next highest grossing movie made $250m :lol

That's quite a jump.

If i wrote Lucy - i'd have the denouement - she's in a padded cell and she imagined the entire thing.

That way you could have any batshit insane story and still have an ending that isn't completely unbelievable.

The whole movie felt rushed.  Scarlett Johansson is what carries the film.

But this is the guy that gave us the original Taxi.

I like the fast pacing. I wasn't bored at least.

The scene where she grows those tendrils reminds me of Akira.

Fifth element is one of my favorite movies of all times, so I expected a lot more from Lucy. It was a decent watch, but not what I wanted it to be.

i already knew how silly it was going in so I just kinda accepted it. Really nice visuals. Nice fast pace. Although after the drugs took over - she was never once in any peril.

Although that in itself is kinda refreshing. In those kinda movies - the hero would lose their power at least once and have to get them back.

Not here.

I thought the opposite of SJ. I felt like she didn't act well at all.

Snowden. I enjoyed it overall though there were certain elements that were meh. I love Levitt, though, and will pretty much see everything he does. Also Cage has a funny little part in it :lol
But yeah, obviously the whole thing is disturbing.

I'm in the crowd that has zero problems watching most comedy chick flicks, Bridesmaids, the new Ghostbusters, etc.. I enjoy them quite a bit.

It's nothing to do with "chick flicks". I just don't find either of those actresses funny at all.

It's the whole everyone improvising at once and the one who thinks screaming their lines is hilarious

schtick I can't stand.

lol

No.

I get that, I guess.  I can't stand Johnny Depp or Will Smith, so no matter how good any given film is that they star in, I don't enjoy it.

I guess everybody had "that" actor (or "those").

Melissa McCarthy

This. People who think everything they say is comedy gold and they leave it all in the final edit.

And they're surrounded by sycophants who are paid to laugh at everything they say.

I only saw one movie with him, and it wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't exactly rush to see something else of his.

I am with you on Stiller, Carrey, and McCarthy (although I did enjoy her movie Spy against all odds).

Even in Meet the Parents, Stiller wasn't funny. Robert DeNiro was hysterical, and in the second one adding Dustin Hoffman was great. Whoever came up with the casting idea for those two deserves a raise. I tried to think about who else would have been good as Focker's father. Not so much as to partner with Focker but to be an opposite to Robert DeNiro's character. The first person that came to mind was Billy Crystal, but that was obviously done already. Personally, I think Robin Williams would have been perfect, but I think the point of using Dustin Hoffman was that he is more of a serious actor as opposed to doing straight up comedies. Anyway...that's my rant.

I don't mind any of those actors listed, none of them grate on my nerves. Only comedian actor I can take in very small doses is Dane Cook, most of the times can't stand any movie role he's in.

Sandler was (dare I say it) great in Spanglish.  Easily his best film.

I will also always have a soft spot in my heart for Billy Madison.

His big problem is that he keeps making the same kind of movie now as he did when he was in his 20s.  He hasn't grown up any.  Also, he keeps putting his same dumbass friends in his movies.

I always slightly preferred Happy Gilmore to Billy Madison, but both are great, and by far his best. I also like Little Nicky, and can watch Big Daddy. That's as much as I can handle of him.

I cannot bear Ricky Gervais in anything.

I liked The Office and Extras at the time but there was something off about him.

Everything he's done since has been utter derivative nonsense and he's just become a really intolerable pice of shit.

And they all have a metric ton of product placement so he can pocket a huge wad from all the companies he promotes in his films.
